Birdie D2024-55

  • Needs a resident dog
  • Not cat tested
  • Oder dog savvy children
  • Patient home who will help build her confidence

Birdie is a 4 year old American Cocker Spaniel described by her foster family as a very shy but precious little lady with the most beautiful soul. She would love a quiet home where not too many demands are placed on her until she gets a bit more confident and loves her forever family as much as they will love her. She has not had the best start in life but we are determined she will have an amazing future.

She is very shy but will wag her tail from across the room and does a little dance when you come in from being out. She lets you stroke her but is still quite nervous and wary of humans so new parents must go slow to start. She has met new people coming into the home and will go into her open crate until she feels safe to come out and say hello.

Vet history to be discussed.

Birdie is good with other dogs but untested with cats. She currently sleeps in a puppy pen and will sleep all night dreaming of all the new adventures she will have.

She can be homed with older children due to her being a sensitive soul. She is in foster with dog savvy children aged 9-12.

Birdie likes toys and chews but mostly she just takes the toys and other random objects to her bed where she hoards them like a dragon hoards gold.

Birdies walking is very much a work in progress. As an ex breeding dog she has never had the joys of going walkies and the amazing sniffs of the outside world. She is practicing in the garden but will currently sink to the floor unsure of what she is being asked and scared of doing the wrong thing. This will come in time when she feels safe and has bonded with her forever loving family.

House Training is a work in progress she is almost there and a routine really helps her.

Birdie is a real picker with her food but is learning that good food comes often and she is allowed to enjoy it. She is very polite with her food around the other dogs.

Birdie needs a quiet home with a resident dog that will give her time to decompress and help build confidence her confidence with lots of positive reinforcement. A home that won’t place lots of demands on her and allow her to come out of her shell. Currently all she wants is lots of gentle strokes, a comfy bed and food.
