Ricky is a 2-year old Cavalier cross Bichon Frise who is being fostered in South Wales. He is a lovable chap who will try to wrap you round his little finger  paw in no time. As he is still a young dog Ricky will benefit from further training and boundaries.

People – Ricky initially came into rescue scared of everyone and everything but with a confident handler he has realised there is nothing to be frightened of. Ricky loves humans and other dogs. He may take a little while to trust but learns very quickly.  A little bit of patience and letting him realise he is not going to be hurt and you will soon have a friend for life.

Dogs – Ricky happily lives with other dogs in his foster home and he would be happier living in a home with another dog for company.

Cats – Not cat tested

In the home – Ricky usually uses the garden to toilet but occasionally has a little accident in the house.  This is possibly from fear or excitement and once settled into a proper routine this should cease.  Ricky is used now to sleeping in a crate at night, he seems to like the security and routine.  He also gets fed in his crate (with the door open).  He is a good eater and looks forward to his two meals a day. Ricky has not been left without other dogs or a human but does not depend on having a human present.  Apart from occasional toilet accidents in the house, Ricky does love to shred newspapers, handy if you want them shredded, not so great if you haven’t read them yet!  He has not destroyed anything else though, no remote controls, furniture etc but he is an intelligent dog that should not be allowed to be bored.

Out and about – Ricky is great in the car and prefers to be on the floor.  I always strap him in to a seatbelt for everyone’s safety. Ricky was great at the vet, travelled well and happy in the waiting room, saying hello to other dogs and happy to stay on the floor.  Ricky is good on the lead and is learning recall on a long lead.  This training will need to continue as he gains confidence with his forever family.

Type of home – Ricky would love a home with at least one other well behaved confident dog and humans who are experienced, patient, firm and understanding.  Ricky is not as scared as he makes out, he is a loving, happy and confident little dog that just needs some reassurance, good training and setting of boundaries.  For his own good, he is at the right age to learn rules so a bit of tough love is necessary.  He is so quick to learn, his forever family should be prepared to continue his training and keep him busy to be rewarded with a loyal, loving, well behaved cuddle monster.

Ricky is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in South Wales.
