Stevie D2024-138

  • Needs a resident dog to learn from
  • Nor cat tested but young enough to learn
  • Sensible dog savvy children

Stevie is an 8 month old long haired mini Dachshund described by his foster family as an absolute sweetheart. He is friendly with everyone he has met so far. He’s a typical young pup being super cuddly and playful with a cheeky side. He especially likes to ‘help’ foster mum empty the laundry basket and then rolls around in the laundry for quality control checks.

He is untested with cats but is young enough to learn.

He has been in foster with children between the ages of 9 and 13 and has been great with all of them, more children means more cuddles for Stevie! He’d be happier with children younger than this, providing they are old enough to be careful with him and understand he is not a toy.

He is still learning what toys are but has learnt to play chase and tug and really enjoys these games.

He is still a bit confused as to what a lead is and what to do however if another confident dog walks ahead of him he quickly figures out he is meant to move too.

He sleeps in the living room with the resident dogs and sleeps well.

House training is still a work in progress and Stevie is getting there. He will continue to improve as long as his new family set him up for success.

Stevie absolutely loves a treat but is happy to wait his turn, he is happy to share his food bowl with the other dogs and also likes to share theirs!

Stevie would suit many different homes, providing his new family do their research into dachshunds to understand his breed traits. He would be very happy in a family home but just as happy in a quiet older home. He enjoys playing with the other dogs so I feel a home with another small breed dog who can be both a playmate and a good example to him would be beneficial. He would benefit from puppy training to ensure he grows up to be a well-balanced and well behaved boy.
