NEEDS A CALM RESIDENT DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE
NOT CAT TESTED BUT IS GREAT WITH THE RABBIT
OLDER DOG SAVY CHILDREN
Mavis is a 3 year old Bichon described by her foster mum as a nervous girl who is desperate to love and trust. She is nervous of strangers and likes to place herself where she can see people coming and going. She sleeps downstairs in her foster home and is excited to see her foster family in the mornings but still keeps her distance, although when crouched down with a side on approach she will greet with a lick on the hand. Once trust is built, she will take treats from the hand but doesn’t like any sudden movements.
Mavis isn’t cat tested but there is a rabbit in her foster home and she doesn’t seem to take any notice of it.
Mavis has done really well with her house training only having a few accidents but she likes you to follow her to the garden so that she feels safe. She loves to go into the garden and have a little run around and sunbathe but also likes to come back into the warm and always settles quickly when coming back in. She does like to chew and will pick up the post if I don’t get there first!
Mavis needs a home with a big sofa as she likes to stretch out and take up all the room. Don’t worry though when you sit on it, she will move to an end and let you share. She’s not yet at the cuddling stage but we are confident she will get there. Once settled on the sofa or in her bed she is happy to be approached quietly for an ear rub.
Mavis is happy to be crated if needed but is also just as happy (when she’s not on the sofa) to cuddle up to the resident dog in a dog bed. She is not yet playing with toys but has enjoyed a kong that was full of goodies. The resident dog in the home is not very playful but Mavis still likes to follow him around. As she is still young, we are confident that given time and the right fur brother or sister that she will enjoy a good play. Only time will tell and we look forward to seeing what this lady is going to become once she finds her confidence and forever family.
Mavis hasn’t ventured any further than the garden at the moment and isn’t trained to walk on a lead so this is something that will need work. This is beginning in her foster home but will require time and patience in her forever home.
Mavis needs a home with pawrents that will help her become the dog she was always meant to be. A resident dog to play, cuddle and learn from and any children in the home need to be older and dog savvy. Mavis is very much a work in progress and just needs time and buckets of love.
