OLDER DOG SAVVY CHILDREN

LOVING PAWRENTS WHO CAN INTRODUCE HIM TO THE BIG WIDE WORLD
Heathcliff is a 15 week old gorgeous little Miniature dachshund, full of love and puppy mischievousness! He has the sweetest nature, loves to snuggle on his fosterer’s laps, gives kisses to his humans and dog friends and likes nothing better than burying his head into your neck for a nap.
He is full of energy, enjoys his zoomies around the garden and sniffing everything he can, then climbs into the toy box for a snooze with the toys! He will need his forever home to give him time as he has been through a lot in his short life.
Heathcliff is initially very timid around people he doesn’t know, but when spoken to gently and given time and space, will come close, sit on your lap and enjoys being stroked. He loves to be close to his familiar people, will ask to be picked up, give kisses and snuggle in for cuddles. He will trot around, following his fosterers, tail wagging, often bringing a little toy with him!
Heathcliff hasn’t met children while in foster and due to his size and start in life, his fosterer feels he would be better homed with older dog savvy children who will understand his needs.
He is currently in foster with a cat and loves to lie next to him and go to sleep. He has not been small furry tested.
Heathcliff is a typical playful, inquisitive puppy, exploring everything! Providing a chew toy or an antler distracts him from chewing things he shouldn’t, and a ramp would be needed to help him access the settee and prevents damage to his developing joints.
Toilet training is progressing well, he is happy to toilet outside, and sleeps through the night, in fosterer’s bedroom, with no accidents.
Heathcliff travels well in the car, and will fall asleep in his dog car seat. He is learning to walk on a lead, wearing a harness. He has experienced short visits to cafes, happily sitting on fosterer’s lap looking around. He hasn’t visited busy urban areas yet.
Heathcliff will thrive in a home where someone is home to provide all the love and care he needs. He needs someone who will carefully introduce him into the big, wide world, understanding the needs of this small breed of dog. He needs the guidance and companionship of a gentle resident dog. A safe, fully enclosed and easily accessible garden is essential.
