Desert Orchid D2024-98

  • Needs a resident dog
  • Not cat or small furry tested but young enough to learn
  • Dog savvy children over 7
  • Patient and loving family

Orchid is 5 month old Westie cross described by her foster family as super friendly and loving once she knows you. She has not had the best start in life and is initially nervous of new people. She is getting out and about and learning about the big wide world. She is super quick to trust, but will hide behind foster mum initially when there are visitors in the home.

Once she feels safe she loves to cuddle up on the sofa. Currently she does not like being picked up as she does not feel safe so introductions to being picked up need to be slow and in her own time.

Orchid having not had toys before absolutely loves them now and this is a great way to gain her confidence and start building that bond. If you have a toy box. she is really good at emptying it but not so good at putting her toys box.

Not cat or small furry tested but is young enough to learn with supervision.

Orchid is a nervous little lady so but can be homed with dog savvy children who will understand she needs time to bond and build trust so we recommend children 7 and over.

Orchid will happily play with toys on her own but she is not so good at sharing. Having never had the good things in life before she does not like to share and will tell others off. Despite this when there are no toys or food around she loves to cuddle up to the resident dog.

Orchid is currently losing her baby teeth and is chewing anything she can get her teeth on so be warned lots of chew toys and re direction is currently needed. She needs positive guidance while she goes through this faze.

She is new to wearing a harness, collar and lead and is suspicious of your intentions. She is learning but will need time.

Currently Orchid sleeps happily in a crate all night.

Toilet training is still a work in progress. She will take herself out to the garden if the door is open but if she is playing or distracted, she can forget. She just needs a routine.

Orchid can be protective over her food and treats and will need monitoring

Orchid needs an active, fun home with owners who will help her overcome her nervousness. She can be homed as an only dog or with other dogs who will show her how to play and trust. Playing, going on adventures and just getting out and about will help build the bond and her confidence. She has not had the start that she should have had but we are adamant she will have the future she deserves.
