Polly D2021-47

***PLEASE READ THE FULL WRITE UP BEFORE APPLYING***

NEEDS A RESIDENT DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE AND AGE

ADULT ONLY HOME

Polly is a 9 year old Jack cross Pug and is very person oriented. She loves to follow you around the house, sit by you on the couch or have cuddles on your lap. She is incredibly affectionate and would let you brush her for hours. She is amazing in the house and hasn’t had a single accident. She likes to do her business in the privacy of her garden rather than out on a walk.

Polly needs to live with another dog as this is what she is used to but would prefer an older dog that will give her space when needed. Polly is currently overweight and will need to stay on a weight and exercise plan in her forever home, but luckily she loves her walks so this isn’t a chore.

Polly needs someone who is home most of the day as she has started to show signs of separation anxiety which is probably due to all the changes she has experienced in a short space of time. She needs someone willing to give her time and affection. She is such a lovely character and has slotted into her foster home effortlessly as she is such a lovely little lady.

Polly loves people but would prefer a quiet adult only house. She hasn’t been tested with children in foster but doesn’t react to them on walks. She is very friendly and will sometimes sniff a passing dog and other times not. Sometimes she is too focused on her human to even notice dogs.

Polly hasn’t been cat tested in foster.

Polly is fully housetrained and can be left for a few hours. She may whine when left alone even if left in the company of another dog. She is not food aggressive but does occasionally need encouragement to eat, and after being hand fed a few biscuits she tucks straight in. She likes a little bit of warm water on her biscuits to slightly soften them. Polly currently sleeps at the end of the bed in foster, after so many changes she needed connection. But I think she would be fine sleeping in a bed on the floor.

Polly is brilliant on walks, she is very attentive and responsive to the lead. She does have a tendency to zigzag and walk very close to your legs so she wouldn’t be suitable for someone with mobility issues.  She also loves going in the car and gets very excited about sticking her head out of the window.

She was an absolute star at the vet’s and didn’t even need me to go inside with her.
She’s happiest when getting attention or with her person. She’s a great companion when tidying and cleaning the house.

Polly will need a garden as she is particular about where she goes to the toilet. She is also a big fan of sunbathing.

OWNERS HOME MOST OF THE TIME

RESIDENT DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE

NO CATS

SENSIBLE DOG SAVVY CHILDREN

What can I say about the amazing Tom, our 13 year old Bichon Frise. He is the loveliest boy. Please don’t let his age put you off, this boy has lots of energy and would love to find a home where he could explore the garden and go on walks. He has a tail wag for everyone and loves to meet new people and dogs when out and about. He is very confident and his favourite thing is to go for walks and explore his surroundings. He really does deserve the best home. He has taken everything in his stride and has done incredibly well considering his age. Tom would really like to be with someone who is home most of the time and he will happily sit and snooze as long as he has had his exercise.

Tom has a few lumps and bumps which have been checked by the vet who has confirmed that one is a fat cell, he has a cyst on his groin which the vet has just advised to keep an eye on and also one on his foot.

Tom loves nothing more than being stroked. He will nudge you with his nose for more and any other people/strangers he has come across he always wants to say hello.

Tom has been in contact with ages 3, 10 and 14 and he was just as happy with children as he is with adults. He shows absolutely no fear and just wants to be petted.

Tom loves dogs! When out for a walk he insists on going to say hello to any passing dogs. He could live with another dog quite easily. He has spent time with a family dog and after the initial excitement settled down and was happy to relax.

I think Tom would be best to not live with cats. We have come across a few on our walks and he initially stares at them but then tries to chase /play with them.

There have been no accidents in the house at all. Tom will cry or bark when he needs to go out and if the door is left open he will happily go out to the garden to do his business. Tom will need a home that will allow him to sleep on the bed. He likes to be near you, but will sleep all night. He wakes up early for the toilet but will happily go back to bed once let out. Tom isn’t interested in any toys and hasn’t been destructive at all. He lets you know when he wants to be fed which at the moment is first thing in the morning, a small handfull of food in the afternoon and then again tea time. I think Tom is used to being fed for most of the day so I have been working with him to cut this down, but he will bark when he is hungry and won’t stop until you give in. I have only left Tom for a short time and he seemed ok. He barked initially but was quiet when I returned. He really would like owners who can be home most of the time.

Tom can pull when on walks but this has improved. He likes to go his way and loves nothing more than to sniff the grass. He has so much energy and will happily go for a walk any time of day. He has been in the car many times and is absolutely fine. Tom was very brave in the vets and there were no issues.

NEEDS A RESIDENT DOG.

CHILDREN 10 AND OVER

LOVES CATS

Norman is a 6 year old big handsome chunky westie boy. He is an ex-breeding stud dog who has not had a lot of socialisation and as a result is very nervous around people. Despite this he has a lovely docile nature and you can see beneath his fear lies a lovely loving sweet dog who just needs patience and time to help him come out of his shell.

Norman is quite fearful of humans and is hand shy. He stiffens if you pick him up and struggles to give eye contact. That said he is starting to respond well to his foster mum and follows her around and will nudge her leg for attention. He will let her tickle his ears and stroke him gently. He has met his foster mums’ son and daughter and will now come up to them to say hello.

He has met his foster mums’ small grandchild and was indifferent to them but it’s best if he is not rehomed with small children due to his nervous disposition.

Norman is living as an only dog at the moment but it’s become apparent that he needs the company of other dog(s) to help teach him how to enjoy life as a much loved family pet. He has met his foster mums children’s dogs a female Jack Russell and a male Staffie and responded well to both and played running around the garden with each of them when they visited. Norman will need to be rehomed with at least one other confident friendly dog.

Norman currently lives with four cats and has been fine with them even one that is particularly feisty! He loves the Siamese cat and they often sleep next to each other.

Norman sleeps in crate at night. He sleeps right through and will sometimes wake his foster mum with a little bark in the morning. He is fine to be left for short periods. He eats well and has no food aggression. He has never shown any aggression. He hasn’t learned how to play with toys yet and is not in the slightest bit destructive. Housetraining is a work in progress but Norman has only had a few accidents in the house. We think he likely lived outdoors as he is fine as long as the door to the garden is open.

Norman has not yet learned how to walk on lead so this will be something the adopter will have to work on and another reason he will need another dog to show him the ropes and help him gain his confidence. He travels well in a crate in the car and has been such a good boy at his vet treatments despite his fear.

Norman would need a home with a kind resident dog or dogs. A home with a garden is essential as Normans favourite thing to do is run around the garden and roll on the grass. Experience of rehoming shut down ex breeding dogs would be an advantage. Adopters need to have time and patience to work with this scared little boy to help him come out of his shell and become the dog he should’ve always been from day one. He is such a lovely dog he deserves the chance of a new life with a family willing to work gently with him and watch this sweet natured gentleman blossom into a wonderful companion.

DISTINGUISHED ELDERLY MALE SEEKS LIFELONG COMPANION FOR BRISK WALKS AND SHARING OF DINNERS AND THE SOFA.

SOMEONE WHO IS HOME MOST OF THE TIME AS I WONT BE LEFT ALONE

PREFERABLY LITTLE TO NO STEPS IN THE HOUSE AND GARDEN

NO SMALL PEOPLE  AND NO CATS

Hello everyone my name is Gunter and I’m a 12 year old Hungarian Wire haired Vizla. I’ve had a very distinguished career in the shooting field and was my previous owners right hand paw. They really were lost without me but like all thing’s times change and I have found myself needing a new retirement home after my owner has been called away for their next adventure in heaven. Now don’t write me off yet there is plenty of life in this old dog and I still know my training from my early days and can be very stealthy when I need to be.

As you can see, I’m a very distinguished gentleman seeking the company of a retired but still active family who understands that we all have good and bad days but the good days outnumber the bad. I’ve become a little deaf in my old age probably from all those game shoots I was on as a pup-ster but I understand hand signals and as long as I’m looking at you, I will do as you ask. If I’m looking the other way making sure that our surroundings are safe (I take my human’s safety very personally) then you will need to make a loud noise to get my attention.

I need my retirement home to be all on one level with very few steps anywhere inside or out of the house. You see all that running around as a youngster can take its toll and sometimes, I just don’t know where my long legs are. I need a nice garden where I can top up my tan and keep an eye out for those pesky cats. I don’t like cats, I’m sure there are other dogs that do and we all live in a multi animal world now but I’m a dog’s dog and hence I don’t like cats. Inside the residence I like to share the sofa or a nice BIG comfy bed on the floor. Somewhere that I can be close to my human but still have room and dream of the adventures to come. Now I’m not sure if I have mentioned this yet but I am a bit of a ladies’ man and will gravitate towards the ladies at every opportunity. In fact, don’t tell anyone but I like the ladies so much I can often be seen rifling around in the underwear draw looking for a sock or two that takes my fancy. I have a bit of a sock fetish and can take them off and squirrel them away or if I get really carried away with a really nice sock, I will eat them. Now this has landed me in hot water a few times so I’ve been told to say that my new family will need to be super clean and keep everything out of my reach.

Whilst we are being honest and I have to tell you my bad as well as good points I’m a bit of a scavenger and if I can reach it and believe me, I can reach most things I will either play with it or eat it. Now this means food, clothing, groceries basically anything I can get in my mouth on. So, no leaving me unattended with anything that may harm me. I just can’t help myself it’s an addiction see.

One more thing to mention as I know I need to be honest to find my new home. I am toilet trained and am mostly very good but my reaction times to needing to go and being able to get myself outside isn’t always on point. This is a very embarrassing subject for me as I pride myself on always looking and behaving my best but I have to be honest. Sometimes I just have to poop and I can’t help it. I am very sorry for this.

I still like to have a walk around the park or the neighbourhood where there may be a chance that we will see a nice lady or two or three. Someone that will stop and admire me and ruffle my hair the way nice people do. I like to see other pupsters with their humans when we are out and about and I don’t mind a quick chin wag with them as long as they are well behaved. I like to part my words of wisdom. I don’t even mind if the pupsters come to visit me at home as I am very well behaved unless they try and take my treats off me then I will have to tell them off. Its only fair they learn manners too.

So to recap I need to live somewhere where someone is home all the time as I wont tolerate being left. I need access to a garden with no or very few steps anywhere inside or outside of the residence. No cats and no little people as I can accidentally knock them over or scare them with my big handsomness. A very tidy household and someone who will keep a close eye on me due to my previously mentioned addictions. Someone that understands that if I have an accident in the house this is not because I am nawty but because I can’t help it and that I get very embarrassed and need a hug as you wash my bottom clean. We don’t know how long I have left before I may get called away to join my previous owners on their adventure in heaven but any time I have left I will spend loving and adoring you and I need the same from you. I look forward to meeting you soon my new forever family. Take care be safe. Love Gunter.

11 months old

Needs to be an only cat

No Dogs

Meet Felix – a lovely one year old boy. We’ve nicknamed him ‘Diddy Cat’ as he’s very small for his age and super cute! He is a gentle soul who would be good with everyone, including small kids. He isn’t interested in sitting on or near you, but he likes company and will seek people out after a while. When he’s in the mood he likes a bit of a fuss and will let you stroke his soft white tummy. He loves to sit and birdwatch, or attempt to catch flies or play with something small like a grape by pushing it round the floor in excellent cat fashion. He makes the sweetest noises which sound like a little bird. He’s never been outside and seems interested, but is too timid so far. He’s a good clean boy who uses his litter tray and scratching post.

Steele D2021-41

Calm resident dog

Owner’s home most of the time

Calm, sensible children 10 and over

Steele is a gorgeous 4 year old cocker spaniel boy who hasn’t had the best start in life but now his tail doesn’t stop wagging and he loves it when you talk to him and gently fuss him. If you are busy he sneaks up behind you and nudges you with his nose for attention. His is a quiet boy in the home and has been no trouble in his foster home. He travels well in the car and has recently started to enjoy very short lead walks

Steele is initially timid but likes a gentle fuss and will nudge you with his nose for attention if you aren’t looking at him. He could live happily with calm gentle children 10 and over. He hasn’t been cat tested but he has a placid nature and its felt that with careful introductions this would be fine

Steele has been a joy to foster. He’s quiet in the house and likes to follow you about to see what you are up to. He likes his food but won’t take treats from your hand as yet. His house training is still a work in progress and he is nearly there with house but does have the occasional accident. He likes to sleep on a soft blanket on the floor, but does occasionally get brave and venture into the dog bed. He hasn’t tried to get on the sofa or human beds. He isn’t destructive at all So we’ve had no need to crate him

Lead walking is all new to him and I doubt he’s ever walked on a lead before. He has just started going on very short walks so his new home will need to keep practicing with him. He likes a sniff around new places or fields. He has been fine meeting other quiet well-behaved dogs whilst out and about. If he is approached by and over excited or young dog who wants to jump on him he is very afraid and tries to run away.

Steele would like a home with at least one calm resident dog that can show him how to be a pet and that not all humans are bad. He’s not keen on being left on his own so either someone who works from home or a retired home. He could live with children as long as they aren’t too boisterous.

Patient home

Needs to be a house cat or have access to an enclosed garden or Catio.

Alexi is a sweet but shy and stunning long haired 3 year old neutered boy. He came into our care after a severe collision with a car and is still regaining his confidence. Due to the nature of his injuries Alexi will need to be an indoor cat or have access to a catio. His fractured jaw if fully repaired and the vets are over the moon with his progress but it does leave him a little vulnerable from another such injury. He has had several teeth removed as a consequence of his accident but enjoys a wide diet.

Understandably Alexi will seek a quiet place (under the kitchen units is a current favourite) as he learns to trust the world again. He will always respond to the offer of cat treats or cheese and mixes well with our other cats. He will allow grooming but does enjoy grooming himself. Sweet and shy, Alexi does enjoy short bursts of toy play but is still learning how to relax.

Alexi would like a home where he can adjust slowly to his surroundings where his Pawrents are loving and understanding.

Huw    D2021-45

****PLEASE READ THE FULL WRITE UP BEFORE APPLYING****

BICHON EXPERIENCED HOME

ADULT ONLY HOME OR HOME WITH OLDER CHILDREN

CHILDREN 15 AND OVER

DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE OR AS AN ONLY DOG

AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TO HELP A SENSITIVE DOG

Huw is a lovely tiny 4 year old little bichon who has a waggy tail when he sees you and squeaks in excitement when he sees you get his lead ready for a walk. He has had a tough past so takes a little while to trust people but once he does, he is like a little shadow wanting to follow you around and join in with whatever you are doing

Due to mistreatment in his previous home Huw can be a little reserved when he firsts meets you but is soon won over with chicken or gentle encouragement, and then he loves being touched and getting gentle belly rubs. Huw is a little head shy so any owner will need to be sensitive to this and gradually work with him to be less sensitive to his head being stroked as currently he gets very worried.

Due to his previous mistreatment Huw will not be homed with young children, he will need an adult only home preferably or a home with older children that will be able to patiently teach Huw that children can be kind to dogs as Huw sadly has not experienced this previously

Huw is good with other dog’s but as he has only recently been neutered he can still be a bit full on and is initially very interested in dog’s so any resident dog would need to be very tolerant. Huw would happily live as an only dog if the adults were home for company.

Huw is interested in the resident cat in the foster home but isn’t chasing just being a bit barky towards it, so a home with no cats would be preferable

Huw is good in the house, having only recently being neutered. Any potential adopters should expect a small level of scent marking initially and be prepared to work with him to get him settled, which will prevent that continuing. Huw is crate trained and will go in one when he wants his own space. He has shown no sign of being destructive but does like toys. When left he will bark initially but this does settle after a few minutes

Huw walks really well on a lead; he can be a bit vocal in the car when travelling but does settle

Huw would suit a bichon experienced home, and a home with adults only preferably, or with older children. He would live happily with another dog or as an only dog. He needs a home that will understand that due to his past it might take him a little while to settle in and to show his true character, so a home that will be patient and provide him with a calm and safe home to settle into. He needs stability and a home that will show him that humans can be kind, he sadly has suffered mistreatment in his previous home so some anxiety from him is to be expected as he settles in and gets to know his new humans.

Huws new home will need to commit to regular coat care at home, he enjoys being groomed, and also make regular appointments at a groomers to maintain his coat and prevent matting. He can be timid initially so any home needs to be able to show awareness of nervous dog behaviour, and be able to show practical awareness of ways to keep a nervous dog safe on walks and in the home with security measures such as a well fitted harness, secure fencing and no use of extendable leads.

Huw is a lovely little dog who so deserves a home of his own to experience being a loved pet, he would benefit from a home where someone was home the majority of the day

Neutered male

Microchipped, vaccinated and up to date flea and wormer

Fostered in Crewe

Anwen

D2021-35

Patient adult only home who can show her the joys of the outside world

Can live with dogs of a similar size

Chihuahua experience home would be beneficial

Anwen is a 6 year old chihuahua who is a little sweetie. She can be a bit nervous when she first meets you, but once she gets to know you she loves to be on your knee having lots of cuddles and fusses. She loves sunning herself in the garden and is very good at scaring off any pigeons who happen to land on the fence.

She has a grade 1-2 heart murmur which doesn’t need any medication and the vets are happy for this to be monitored going forward on her annual health checks.

Anwen is a typical Chi and will bond with her human deeply, but tends to shy away from strangers so will take her time to warm up to you. Due to how nervous she can be an adult only home would suit her best.

Anwen is fine around other dogs and shows no aggression even with larger dogs. She would like a home with other small dogs to help her settle and learn about the big wide world. She had not been cat tested but due to her size say she maybe ok with a dog savvy cat and if introductions are done properly.

Anwen has been good with her toileting but has had a few accidents as she doesn’t always indicate she wants to go out. She will however always go in the garden if you open the door for her. She’ll either sleeps on foster mums bed, sofa or chooses to take herself off to her crate. She’s not at all destructive and hasn’t yet started to play with toys. She does however love her food but can be a bit fussy at times, but chicken always goes down well. Anwen has no issues when being left on her own and can be left for a few hours no problem.

Anwen is very frightened of the big wide world and needs a patient owner who can show her that sniffing and being outside is a positive thing. Her love for food will help as positive reinforcement. She does however love to sun herself in the garden and protect her human from the pesky pigeons. She’s frightened of the vets, but does not nip or bite them. She seems to be ok in the van when travelling.

Anwen would be suitable for a retired person or someone who is home most of the time that has lots of patience and time to show her that the world isn’t that scary when she has a human who is behind her 110%. She needs a securely enclosed back garden where she can potter and toilet. She is nervous of the outside world but new owners need to teach her the joys of being outside and this will obviously take time and be at her pace.

Alice- newly tripawed

Alice is a beautiful 6 year old tortie who came in to the vets with a fractured pelvis. Although her pelvis was pinned and plated she never regained full use of her one back leg. This left no choice but to amputate it. Despite only having 3 legs it hasn’t slowed her down!. She is very affectionate and purrs with any contact, she would like nothing more than to have a comfy bed (or two) to cuddle up in and some humans to love her all up. She is currently fostered by a family who have young children (who Alice gets on great with) and 3 resident cats who she seems to tolerate well. She has met the resident dog and doesn’t seem to be phased by him.

Alice would need to be an indoor cat or have access to a catio.

Could live with another cat after sensible introductions

Her photos do not do her justice

Silver is a beautiful 6 year old girl. Her markings are truly stunning but her beauty hides a little nervous cat that would best be suited to a quieter home or one with older, cat savvy children. Once Silver has learned to trust her humans, she will come out of her shell and loves fusses. Outdoor access would be good as she does enjoy a little explore. We would recommend a catio or enclosed garden due to her nervous nature. She may be able to live with another cat who is laid back and she is untested with dogs.

Billy

D2021-40

***PLEASE READ THE FULL WRITE UP BEFORE APPLYING***

CHI EXPERIENCED HOME

SENSIBLE CHILDREN 10 AND OVER

CAN BE REHOMED AS AN ONLY DOG OR WITH A SENSIBLE DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE

OWNER HOME MOST OF THE TIME

Billy is an 18 month old Chihuahua. He’s a beautiful and loving dog that loves snuggling up with his humans, but can be scared and bark at strangers until he feels comfortable. He has not had the normal socialisation of a home and other dogs and needs time to adjust to new surroundings and experiences. He will need an understanding home that will allow him to bond at his own pace

Billy adores humans but he has typical little dog syndrome and will growl when he feels threatened and scared. When he first meets a human he will bark, then run away if approached, once he’s gotten over his macho moment he loves nothing more than attention.

Billy has chosen to spend a lot of time with his foster mums 12 year old son, where he happily lays on the bed whilst little human plays on the Xbox. He gets excited when he sees his little human but it has taken time to build this bond.

Billy can be unsure of other dogs and will bark when he first meets them and has growled and snapped at some. He’s been fine with his foster brother and sister but took a while to get used to them. Introductions to other dogs need to be done under supervision and carefully.

Billy will chase and bark at cats, so we would not recommend homing him with any.

Billy is 100% housetrained, he had a few accidents when he first arrived in foster but this stopped quickly. He previously spent a lot of his time in a crate and used this as his safe place. So, when he first arrived in his foster home he had one available to him which he used for a few days whilst he found his paws. He still has access to his crate but prefers to lay on the settee with his humans and foster brother and sister or on the dog bed on the floor. Billy sleeps at the bottom of his foster mums’ bed and sleeps all night with no problems. He is not destructive but he does love playing with toys especially a ball. He is not a massive eater and only eats small portions of wet food mixed with dry biscuits twice a day. Billy doesn’t like to be left by his humans and will cry and bark but this does calm down after a bit and he will settle.

Billy walks really well on the lead and loves being outside. He will bark at passing people and dogs as he likes them to know how scary he is lol then he will run away once approached. Billy will worry whilst travelling in the car and will shake but this is being worked on.

Billy is a loving little man that adores humans and will follow you everywhere. He likes to let everyone know how big and strong he is and will bark at any noises in the garden or when he sees other humans or dogs in the home or on a walk. Billy could be rehomed with older children 10 years and up but it’s important that they understand, he is just a puppy still and when unsure or scared he will bark and run and sometimes growl. He needs to come around to you in his own time. Billy gets over excited when playing and this can be taken the wrong way in an inexperienced home and will need to be monitored if there are young children visiting as they wont understand his playfulness. Billy could be rehomed on his own with someone that’s home most of the day giving him lots of cuddles or be rehomed with another dog that will be able to put up with his dominance and sometimes snapping until he can get used to them and settle. A chi experienced household is a must to understand his big character in a little cuddly body.

RESIDENT DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE

CHILDREN 10 AND OVER

NO CATS

ENJOYS LONG WALKS AND CUDDLES

Lilly is a very outgoing and confident 5 year old King Charles Cavalier girl who loves nothing more than going on long walks then getting up on your lap for cuddles and kisses. She loves her food and treats basically she just loves food full stop and tells me when it is meal times.

Lilly has a grade 1 heart murmur that the vets are not at all concerned about. She just needs this checked when she has her annual health check.

On walks Lilly loves to meet people, she will bark when first meeting them but soon goes in for fussing and attention. Lilly is also fine when she meets other dogs on a walk and has a good sniff of them. She is great with her foster fur family and will need a resident dog for company.

She loves a bath and being dried in a big fluffy towel. She has not had the opportunity to interact with any young children but from her reactions to people children 10 and over would be best. Lilly does not like cats

Lilly is fully housetrained and either sleeps on the bed or on the couch. She goes in a crate when foster mum goes out of the house and will bark to start but soon settles down to sleep. She has been left for about two hours and is fine in her crate. She is not destructive and loves to play with a ball.

Lilly does not like the car and this is being worked on. Her foster mum has been taking her for short journeys for her to know it is ok being in the car and you go nice places. She is fine with the vet.

Lilly likes nothing better than being with humans and will need to be with someone that can be there for most of the day and willing to give her lots of attention. She needs another dog of a similar size who will play and keep her company and owners who will take her for nice walks.

Poppi

D2021-31

No Children

Quiet home with owners around most of the time

Only dog or resident dog of a similar size

Poppi is a 10 year old small Yorkshire terrier who’s favourite things are short walks and cuddles with her human. She is a very sociable little girl and follows you everywhere. She likes to sleep on or by your side when on the sofa. She can get a little bit grumpy if she has to be moved when on the sofa and has a little moan, but soon comes round.

She had some skin issues when she first came into foster which resulted in the loss of some of her fur, especially on her belly but since treatment with medicated baths and antibiotics her skin is improving and her fur is slowly growing back. She will however need a grain free diet going forward to keep her in tip top condition.

Poppi is a very sociable little girl and likes to follows her human everywhere.

She is happy to have a bath and enjoys a nice cuddle to dry off in her towel.

Poppi likes other dogs when out on a walk, but can be a little grumpy if you wake her from her afternoon nap to go. She needs a “Do not disturb sign for her bedside”. She also likes to play out in the garden after her nanna nap where she enjoys interacting with her foster brother. Poppi could be an only dog as long as her human is home for most of the time or with a resident dog of a similar size.

She has not been assessed with cats but she is interested & inquisitive with the chickens in the garden, but no longer bothers them.

Poppi likes a safe place to retreat to and returns to her crate if she feels anxious. She likes to sleep in her crate by night but sleep on the sofa during the day. She does not interact with toys at the moment but is still learning new things around her. Poppi loves her food and has three small meals a day she is not food aggressive and has no guarding issues.

Poppi’s toilet training is a work in progress which she is learning quickly but is frightened of the dark and hates the rain and will try and avoid going out for her last toilet before bed if she can. This is being worked on.

Poppi walks well on her lead initially pulling as she is exited to go but soon settles. The pads of her feet can be sensitive and sometimes she will lift her foot if they are sore. She likes to have an intermittent walk and carry when out and about and she is small and light so is easy to carry. She travels in a canvas crate with no anxiety in the car and is well behaved at the vets.

Poppi would benefit from a calm household with an owner who is home most of the time to provide cuddles and be her pillow to sleep on. Someone who understands that she is a special little lady and needs to be treated as a princess in her twilight years.

ROLO

D2021-26

***PLEASE READ THE FULL WRITE UP BEFORE APPLYING***

CHILDREN 7 AND OVER

RESIDNET PLAYFUL DOG

ACTIVE HOME WITH RESIDNETS AROUND MOST OF THE TIME

Rolo is a 7/8 year old Bichon and there are 4 words to describe him… Playful, Cheerful, Gentle and Affectionate. This boy is probably the sweetest natured Bichon I’ve met, he loves nothing better than to snuggle up on your knee for lots of cuddles and fuss. He’s a right little time waster and a fantastic lap warmer, whoever adopts this little man won’t be able to resist his charms.

Being slightly more mature, he’s a bit arthritic in his legs, the vet has suggested a joint supplement is all he needs at this point. It certainly hasn’t stopped him going for a walk every day or playing Zoomies around the garden.

Rolo gets very excited when people come to the door and thinks they are coming to see him, he loves every one and all the attention he can get. He’s pretty good being brushed and will stand there at the groomers without much fuss, again enjoying the attention.

He loves little people as much as big people, but he does jump up when greeting anyone and could possibly knock over a toddler, for this reason he’d be better off in a home with no children or no younger than 7 years old.

Loves other dogs whatever the size and does not react in a negative way when out and about or in the home.

Rolo is not small furry or cat tested

Rolo is generally quiet in the home, he’s fully house trained and has had no accidents in the house. He loves to sleep on the bed with foster mum, but will go in a crate in the bedroom at night. He’s not at all destructive and isn’t really into toys, preferring a fuss from his human, he loves his food and gets vocal if he thinks you’re being too slow getting his food prepared, he’s showed no signs of being toy or food aggressive but he’ll probably shout at you if you took his food away! This little boy doesn’t like to be left on his own much and will bark for 3 or 4 minutes when you go out, he does settle as is always silent when foster mum comes home. He can be left for short periods

Rolo loves his walks and does pull on the lead at the beginning or when he sees other dogs, he seems to travel well and enjoys a visit to the vets, working his charms on all the vet nurses!

This little fella would be the perfect companion for an older active person who is at home most of the time. He needs a resident dog to keep him company and play.

POPPY

D2021-17

******PLEASE READ THE FULL WRITE UP BEFORE APPLYING****

*********NEW OWNER NEEDS TO BE CLOSE TO CARDIFF AND WILLING TO VISIT A FEW TIMES AS POPPY IS VERY NERVOUS********

NEEDS A CALM RESIDENT DOG

OWNERS HOME MOST OF THE TIME

NO CHILDREN

Poppy is a 20 month old Jack Russel X Cavapoo. She is a timid but beautiful and loving pup that has had a tough start to life and came into foster terrified of everything and everyone. However once you have gained her trust she will give her heart to you. Poppy is only a young dog that has missed out on a lot in her short life. She is slowly learning basic commands with positive reinforcement.

Ultimately all Poppy wants to know that she is safe and loved. She is a total cuddle monster and loves nothing more than curling up next to you and as long as she is touching you, she is happy. She needs someone to love her, fuss her, keep her company and give her favourite treat, a pig’s ear!

Poppy is very timid and nervous around everyone except her foster mum. She will go up to familiar people for a sniff but usually backs off when shown attention. She is happy to be touched and will tolerate being groomed by foster mum.

Poppy was fostered with her dad initially and they got on fine. She has met other dogs on walks and has been extremely nervous around them. She has only shown aggression when cornered by a larger, very lively pup. She need to live with a very calm resident dog to show her how to be a dog.

Not cat or small furry tested but has barked at next doors cat through the window.

Poppy’s housetraining is still ongoing, she has learned to use puppy pads but will need ongoing training in her forever home. She refuses to go to the garden to toilet on her own but will go if carried out!

Poppy has the run of downstairs at night and prefers to sleep on the sofa than in her bed. She has never been destructive but has stolen the odd nail file, sock or brush! She has just started to learn to play with toys and has learned to chase after a ball but doesn’t know that she’s supposed to pick it up yet! She has a squeaky toy that when encouraged to, will have a little chew on but she never chooses to play independently.

Poppy is not a big eater and prefers a mix of wet and dry food. She enjoys her treats, her absolute favourite is a weekly pig’s ear! She has never shown any food or toy aggression. Poppy has separation anxiety and doesn’t like to be left. She has never been left for more than a 2-3 hours at a time.

Poppy had never been on a lead when she came to us and it took a few weeks for her to be comfortable wearing a collar and harness. When she initially went out she was terrified of every movement and sound but now gets excited when she sees her lead. She enjoys going out and walks beautifully she likes going off lead and is slowly learning that she can safely go more than a metre from foster mums feet! She is still very timid and nervous on walks but is gaining confidence every day. Potential forever owners will need to build a bond before going walkies. She is travelling better in the car. She used to be sick every time but I think that was just nerves. She travels better sat in the front. She is nervous at the vets and needs to be carried in.

Poppy needs a quiet, calm, loving home with patient owners to give her the space to come to them. They will need to continue her toilet and command training with positive reinforcement. She needs to live with a calm resident dog who can show her how to be a dog and how to interact with humans.  Poppy ultimately just wants cuddles and to be loved and she will reciprocate that love a hundred times back.

Miniature Poodle

Quiet home with no children and older visiting children

Home as an only dog

Coco is a 7 year old miniature Poodle who loves being out and about. In the house he’s a quiet boy who loves to sleep but when it’s walk time he spins around excitedly wagging his tail and dancing.

Coco has recently had surgery to fix a luxating patella, which has been successful.

Coco likes being fussed but on his terms. He is happy to be stroked and will actively look to sit next to you on the sofa but can sometimes grumble if you touch him when he’s not expecting it. He was happy being bathed and blow dried but didn’t like the clippers or cutting and was a bit snappy. He’s not afraid to growl to try and get his own way.

Coco would prefer a home with no children and visiting children would need to be older

Coco loves going for walks and meeting other dogs when he’s out and about, and greets them all politely with a waggy tail. Coco is an angel on walks and trots along lovely. He’s currently building up after surgery so is only going out for about half hour twice a day.

In the home he would like to be an only dog as he doesn’t like sharing his humans or bed.

Not cat or small furry tested but probably not

Coco is fully house trained and is happy to settle in a crate. He loves his food and likes a chew toy but doesn’t really play with toys. He’s happy to be left for short periods and isn’t destructive at all.

Coco would like an adult only home with no visiting young children. He needs to be an only dog but is happy to meet dogs outside the home for a walk. A small garden would be fine as he doesn’t really like to potter around but will need a few walks a day

Cooper 2 years old and is a handsome boy with a glossy coat and enormous white paws. He is always up for playing and uses his big white goalkeeper gloves to catch a ball on string! He can get overexcited and if you try to stroke him when he’s in a playful mood, then he will koala grab you and might nip you. However, he gives off signs so you can stop before this happens. Better for him to be around older kids who will understand this. He used to live with a dog and got on well. He likes company and will settle down next to you on the sofa for an evening snooze. Duke

REF: D2021-09

RESIDENT DOG OF A SIMILAR SIZE IS A MUST

Calm children 12 and over

Owners home most of the time

Neutered 1st and 2nd jab

Duke is a 3 year old Saluki x Collie and is a real gentleman, he loves nothing more than company both human and canine. He is one of the most gentle and loyal dogs I have had the pleasure of meeting and caring for. He is currently living with 8 other dogs both male and female with no issues.

He is starting to play fetch with a ball and after a play or walk loves nothing more than a good snuggle up on the sofa or in a soft cosy bed. He is a very intelligent dog and is easy to train using treats as rewards. He isn’t destructive but will steal food off worktops etc if left alone.

He is very happy to be handled, brushed, bathed, have his nails clipped and ears cleaned. He goes to the dog grooming salon that foster mum owns and is happy to meet and accept all dogs into the salon with a waggy tail. He is much happier being left with another dog for short periods but does suffer from anxiety if left on his own.

Duke hasn’t been around children so I feel that he would only be suitable for a home with either none or older children. He hasn’t been cat tested but has met chickens, sheep and a rabbit with no issues. He hates being left on his own and is better left with the company of another dog for a few hours.

Duke is an absolute treasure to care for. He has the occasional accident in the house but this is more from anxiety when left as he tends to panic. He loves nothing more than to curl up either in a soft cosy bed or by your side on the sofa. He will enter a crate on his own terms but does not like being shut in.

He loves his food and treats but will also steal any food left on worktops or anywhere accessible to him. He has no food or toy aggression and is actually fed in the same room as two other dogs and has learnt to eat his own dinner and leave the other dogs alone until they have finished their meals. I can take anything away from him with no issues including his dinner or toys.

Duke is a dream to walk, he just loves to be out and about with you. He has been let off the lead in a secure field but would benefit from more recall training. He travels very well and just curls up for a snooze. He is an angel at the vets with no issues whatsoever.

Duke deserves a loving home preferably with someone at home most of the day and maybe another dog where he isn’t left on his own for too long. He is quite a sensitive soul and will respond well to a gentle and kind voice. He is a wonderful dog and will make someone the perfect loyal companion. He has no aggressive tendencies and when bonded will stick to you like glue.

Daffy

REF D2021-21

Resident dog of a similar size

Children 8 and over

Active home

Daffy is a fun, loving and energetic 5 year old Poodle cross girl who loves nothing more than to play with her fellow canines and follow her humans around the house. She looks forwards to walks and greets her humans enthusiastically when they have been out. She is a gentle girl who loves to be cuddled and sleeps well throughout the night. Daffy is housetrained and not destructive at all.

Daffy is good with children and would suit a home with sensible children age 8 and upwards. Daffy travels well in the car with a dog seat belt to secure her on the back seat. Daffy cannot live with cats and probably not other small furries.

Daffy loves to cuddle up with the other dogs in the house and to play in the garden. As an ex-breeding dog, Daffy is inexperienced with walking on a lead however is doing very well and gets excited for walks. She wants to say hello and run to greet every dog she sees on walks so her adopters will need to work with her on this.

Daffy is very well behaved at home and is housetrained. She sleeps on foster Mums bed and likes to snuggle up close. She does not use a crate and occasionally plays with soft toys. She eats a mix of wet and dry food and though not aggressive she likes to investigate the other dogs food in case they have something nicer than her. Daffy has been left for a few hours with the other dogs for company.

Daffy needs a home with owners who are prepared to take her on 2 good walks a day in the morning and evening as like all spaniels she is full of energy. Daffy needs the company of at least one other young playful dog and would be okay in a home with sensible children age 8 and above. Daffy is a little shy at first but once she gets to know you, will be a very loving and loyal friend.

Bluebelle

D2021-27

ACTIVE HOME

CHILDREN 10 AND OVER

RESIDENT DOG

SUIT AGILITY, FLYBALL OR SEARCH AND RESCUE FAMILY

Bluebelle is an 11 month old Border Collie with a sweet nature who loves lots of fuss and cuddles, she’s very busy, playing with the other foster dogs in the house and all her toys. She loves the company of her foster mum and sometimes thinks she’s a lapdog. She gets excited at the prospect of a walk and meeting up with her doggy friends and after a hard day playing she likes nothing better than to curl up on the sofa to watch her favourite animal programme on TV!

Bluebelle loves people but can be a little enthusiastic when she first meets them, planting a big sloppy wet kiss on your face. Out and about Bluebelle pulls on the lead and although this is getting better it is definitely something that needs further work. Off lead she is much better and has a good recall 99% of the time, she does get distracted by other dogs, squirrels and birds but soon comes back when called. In the van she seems to travel well and hasn’t been sick on a journey of up to an hour, when foster mum first picked her up she had to be physically put into the crate in the van, but now happily hops in on her own. She is fine at the vets, enjoying all the attention she gets.

She’s not keen on water and hates a bath, but likes a brush although after a while she thinks this is a good game. In her previous home she was with a 10 year old child who she was fine with, but because she is still a little boisterous I’d say no younger than 10

Bluebelle loves the company of other dogs and likes to play with others in the home, she’s is a real “meeter and greeter” when on a walk and will go up to other dogs to instigate play, but will stop in her tracks if you call her back most of the time. I would say this little girl would do much better in a home with at least one other dog.

Bluebelle used to live with two cats but always tried to play with them which they weren’t keen on.

In the home, Bluebelle is house trained and will go to the back door if she wants to go out, but she doesn’t bark so you need to watch her. She sleeps with her foster mum and the other dogs on the bed, but will go into a crate if being left for a short while. She will rip the odd loo roll centre and does like to chew things, but will stop when told. She has been destructive in her previous home but would put this down to not enough exercise and boredom as since she has been with foster mum she’s found her “off switch”. She loves toys, particularly a ball or tuggy toy and has eaten very well, she tends to get excited when preparing food, jumping up at the counter and sometimes grumbling at the other dogs, a firm “NO” tends to stop this and she sits down. She will sit and wait for her meals and only eat when you say OK and she is last in the pecking order to be fed. As she has a history of being destructive, I would say she should not be left any longer than 2.5 hours and only after being walked.

Bluebelle is high energy & very intelligent, so needs to be active. She would be most suited to an Agility, Flyball, Search & Rescue or Competitive Obedience home, she’s not noise sensitive, doesn’t seem fazed by traffic and doesn’t herd like a lot of Collies. Collies are not for the faint hearted but she’s a cracking little dog with lots of potential and will do very well in experienced hands. She needs someone who is home most of the time and the company of at least one other dog, she is absolutely smashing and will make a very loyal and loving companion. She’s going to be hard to part with!

Bella is two years old and ready for her forever home! She is the perfect cat for cat lovers.

Her purrfect family would be home most of the day, kind and patient, cat lovers who want an extremely loving lap cat to be part of their family for her whole life! Amy

Reference D2021-22

Children 10 and over

Needs a calm resident dog

Owners home most of the time

Amy is a 2 year old Hunterway who is very shut down, scared and nervous but behind that is a beautiful, gentle girl. She is gradually learning a whole new routine of living in a house and is getting braver every day. She loves having a cosy bed or a comfy chair to sleep on and loves having a bowl of food all of her own. She loves to play in the garden with the other dogs and is starting to wag her tail more and more with each passing day. With consistent, gentle encouragement and a lot of patience, Amy will be a wonderful, happy pet.

Amy gets on well with other dogs in her foster home, but prefers to be on her own. She has tried to play with one of the other dogs and runs around the garden with them. She would like the company of one other confident dog. Amy is not cat or small furries tested.

Amy is not completely housetrained as she is too scared to ask to go out but will always go and toilet in the garden when the door is open. Amy prefers to stay in an open crate and uses it as her safe place. She likes to be in the same room as her human and will curl up on a chair in the living room in the evening. Amy has shown no signs of destruction or aggression. She if very fearful but wags her tail and loves mealtimes. She is not protective of her food but does prefers to eat away from the other dogs. Amy has hardly been left, but does whines when she is left. An hour is the most she has ever been left. She is not interested in playing with humans, other dogs or toys yet. She will take a treat from a hand and is very gentle.

Amy will need a lot of kindness, confidence and patience to teach her to feel safe on a lead. She currently just freezes and has to be carried. She has only been out to go to the vet and her new owner will need to continue with lead training. She is quiet in the car, mainly due to fear.

Amy would benefit from a calm home where someone is home most of the time. She will need calm and consistent reassurance and a lot of patience to help her overcome her fears. She would like to have a calm and confident dog to help her learn home is a safe place and she needs a garden that is secure and big enough for her to run around in and explore.

Sheila  REF:D2021-28

 Neutering agreement

Dog savvy children 10 and over

Active family

Calm resident dog

Sheila the Lurcher is a stunning 15 week old bundle of fun! She is super friendly, energetic and a big gangly goofball!! She loves everyone and everything! She is inquisitive and intelligent and has already picked up the simple commands of sit and paw. She’s interested in snuffle and puzzle toys which help to keep her calm and busy.

Sheila is generally a calm, quiet dog but becomes very vocal when she is bored and wants to play. She has moments of puppy madness when all she wants to do is zoomies around the garden and play fetch and tug of war! She will start to mouth and bite but once distracted with a chew toy or soft toy it stops. As well as wanting to play, Sheila is also a cuddle bunny and likes nothing more than snuggling next to you and sometimes on top of you on the sofa! Saying this sometimes she likes to take herself off to find a spot to relax

Sheila greets everyone like her long lost friend but does have the tendency to have an excited wee! Hopefully this is something she will grow out of. She loves all attention whether it’s a pet on the head, a tummy tickle or a full on cuddle!

Sheila loves children and has a lovely bond with my 12 year old daughter. However, she is very bouncy and excitable and may knock a small child over in her enthusiasm so a home with older dog savvy children is required.

Sheila is very sociable and is friendly when meeting other dogs. She is friendly with the other dog in my house, even when it’s not reciprocated!  Sheila would like the company of another, older calmer dog to show her the ropes and keep her entertained.

We wouldn’t recommend homing Sheila with cats or small furries

Sheila is house trained and will sit or paw at the door when wanting to go out. She is crate trained and goes to bed with little fuss and sleeps all night. She is not destructive but enjoys ragging her soft toy duck and chewing on toys but hasn’t destroyed them (yet!) but she’s a bit of a sneak and will try pinching a pen or make up brush for example to have a little chew on! However, she will usually swap for a higher value toy and if not, will let you take it out of her mouth without any aggression.

She eats kibble twice a day, some of which I keep back to put in her snuffle blanket or puzzle toy and she enjoys a treat or two! She hasn’t been in foster long so hasn’t been left but she does cry when one of us goes out or upstairs without her.

Sheila walks pretty well on a lead, she sometimes tries chewing the lead if she sees it but can usually be distracted. She will love to be let off lead so she will need recall training.

Sheila deserves an active, loving home with owners who are prepared to continue with her training and will take time to stimulate and play with her. She is still a puppy so does try to bite when excited and can be vocal to get attention so needs consistency to learn manners and acceptable behaviour. Dog savvy children 10 and over and a sensible resident dog who will show her the ropes but will also play with her. Whoever has her will be lucky to have the sweetest, friendliest, goofiest little pup.

Puss Puss

Puss Puss despite being only 5 years old is a super quiet boy who just loves to cuddle and sleep. He’s a big sleeper and likes on average about 23 hours a day and when he’s not sleeping he likes to be on your lap or close to you almost like a cat radiator. As yet he hasn’t shown much interest in going outside and is enjoying his home comforts. He’s not been dog or other cat tested but sensible gradual introductions may be possible. He is not going to like a noisy household so young kids and a busy home is not going to suit him.

Rik

Only dog or with a resident dog

Children 12 and over

Active home with scent hound experience.

Our boy Rik is a beagle cross basset and is only 12 weeks old and will come with a neutering agreement. He’s doing so well in his foster home we think he deserves to be in the PERFECT forever home as soon as possible.

As a baby Rik is super playful and has loads of energy. He is just enjoying puppy life, being clumsy, funny, goofy and when he’s run out of energy having a power nap before it starts again. During his brief downtimes he likes to snuggle on the sofa or just be close to his human.

Rik’s house training is currently a work in progress but this is standard with all fur babies and is coming along nicely. He has not been cat tested and as he’s a scent hound this may not be a good idea.

Rik will need an active home with owners who are home most of the time and can introduce him to the big wide world. He could be an only dog or live with a resident dog of similar energy levels. Due to his energy levels we suggest he could live with children 10 and over. Like any annoying youngster Rik would not be suitable to live with an older dog as they would probably pack their bags and leave home after a few hours with this little bundle of energy.

Blue

Resident active dog

Children 10 and over

Active family

Blue is a 3 year old terrier cross who is playful with a big heart. Since coming into foster he has really come out of his shell. He loves to cuddle up, albeit after flopping all over you. He’s very obedient considering his background and it will not take a lot of work to train him. He will be a wonderful addition to any home, he’s lovable and totally irresistible.

He has no known health issues and now that he’s on a proper food regime, with plenty of fluids, his condition is 100% better than when he arrived.

Blue adores people and loves to be around his foster family. He loves to be stroked and is no problem to groom as long as you don’t leave his brush unattended as he will steal it. He loves children and has no problem with them at all as long as they are respectful. Our grandchildren are between 9 and 16 and he happily sits with them while they fuss him.

He has no problem with our dogs, and will happily play with them. In fact, Elsa, a foster we adopted plays tug-o-war with him and they share toys. She has never played with a larger dog since we’ve had her, so is obviously a good judge of character.

He has not been tested with cats or small animals

Blue is pretty much housetrained, there has been the odd accident but generally no issues. He will go all night without a problem. He currently sleeps in a bed in the kitchen with the other dogs and is quite content. He loves playing with toys and is usually carrying one around. He does chew them but he’s not destructive or toy/food aggressive. He has been left for short periods with the other dogs in the kitchen with no issues.

Blue travels well in the car but is a little apprehensive getting in the car. He has had no problem visiting the vet.

Blue would like to live in a family environment with another dog for company. He needs regular exercise so an active family is a must. He is desperate to get out in the big wide world. He will thrive with exercise and I think his recall training will be easy for him.

Sean

Playful resident dog

Sensible children 10 and over

Patient owners who re home most of the time

Can live with dog savvy cats

Sean the Schnauzer is a 5 year old ex breeding dog and has not been used to living in a home until the last few weeks with his foster family. He is very shy and when he first came into foster would not move from his crate except to be carried outside for toileting. After a few weeks in his foster home Sean has started to come out of his shell and will move between sofas and approach his foster family for tickles under the chin.

Sean is a wonderful gentle boy and has shown no signs of aggression, he deserves a caring home with someone who will shower him with the attention he has missed in his short life.

Sean is shy around new humans but once he learns to trust he loves to be smoothed. He is getting used to being bathed but will flatten himself on the bottom of the bath until it is over. He likes to be groomed gently.

Sean likes the children in the house, he particularly likes foster Mums 10 year old son and will stand in front of him patiently waiting for attention. He can live with gentle, dog savvy, sensible children 10’years and upwards.

Sean had not been on a walk yet as he is in the process of being harness and lead trained. Foster Mum takes him out to the front garden with the harness and lead on and though he is very interested in the sights and sounds of cars and people he doesn’t understand about walking on the lead and will sit and dig his heels in rather than walk. It may take some time for Sean to learn to walk on the lead, he will need a very patient and loving home to work with him and not expect miracles all at once.

It is important that his new home has a big and secure garden as Sean loves to run around exploring, he really comes out of himself in the garden and shows us a glimpse of the dog he is meant to be.

Sean lives with 3 cats and they are all very comfortable around each other.

Sean is housetrained but has to be carried outside at regular intervals as he doesn’t yet have the confidence to go outside alone. He will bark and walk in circles when he needs to toilet.

Sean is not destructive and does not play with toys. He eats two good meals a day of a mix of wet and dry food, loves a treat of white fish, salmon or chicken a few times a week. Sean had 33 teeth out when he came into rescue and though he is eating dry kibble now he needs plenty of wet food and fresh water.

Sean has been fine left with his foster brother and sister for a couple of hours.

Sean sleeps with his foster brother and sister upstairs but sometimes he likes to chill downstairs and come up later. So owners who will allow him both would be great. He can come upstairs anytime but he does not have the confidence yet to explore the house, this will come in time.

Sean will need full security when learning to walk on the lead, it is imperative that his new owner uses a minimum of 2 leads, a well fitting harness and collar to ensure he does not get scared and escape:

Sean needs a quiet home with someone home most of the day. He must live with at least one other resident dog, preferably a young playful dog who will play with him in the garden and show him how to walk on a lead. Sean can live with sensible, dog savvy, gentle children over 10.
