DUE TO THE MASSIVE RESPONSE NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED

NB: Please remember, if you have a dog and it is not neutered, it is against our policies to re-home a dog with you. We will not accept full time working homes for puppies. If you do work part time the pups must have a resident dog for company please. We will be expecting the puppy to go to socialisation classes and we will be asking you about your plans at interview. If you live in a flat we will be asking about your experience of puppy training and how you will cope without a garden.

Name: Katy

Age: 9 weeks

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Can I live with Children?: Yes but not toddlers

Can I live with cats?: Yes

Can I live with other dogs?: Yes

Fostered In: Rhondda, South Wales

We call Katy the little explorer. She is a delightful little lady who loves to play fight with her siblings and won’t back down from larger dogs. As with all young puppies, she has a battery life of around 30 minutes and needs a good hour to re-charge. When not sleeping she plays, eats and gets in to mischief. You will need to make sure you home is puppy proof and you love puppy kisses!

People – Katy loves all of her humans except little toddlers who frighten her. She does not live with young children at present. Katy accepts all visitors without hesitation and is happy to play with and be cuddled by everyone.

Dogs –  Katy currently lives in a foster home full of dogs young and old and she interacts well with them all.

Cats – Katy will be fine to live with cats

In the home – As a young puppy, Katy is not housetrained although she is starting to stick to a pattern. She does not distinguish between soft toys and electric cables so your home will need to be puppy proof. She sleeps in her own space with her brothers and sisters and settles well at night.

Out and about – Katy is still too young to have ventured outdoors.

Type of home – Katy would fit into a wide range of homes. As a pup she would need someone around most of the time to continue her training and socialising. She can live with sensible children but not too young as puppy teeth hurt if she nibbles you. She would like lots of chew toys and things to keep her active as she grows. Somewhere warm and cosy to recharge her battery is a must. She can live with another dog or dogs but she may be too bouncy for old dogs.

Katy is not neutered as she is too young so it is a condition of adoption that she is neutered at 6 months of age. A discount voucher will be provided and follow up checks will be done. She may need a small hernia repaired at the same time. Katy is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Rhondda, South Wales

Betty is a 2-year old Border Terrier cross Pug who is being fostered in Worcester. She is a delightful little girl who loves her humans and craves attention. Although she has not had the greatest start in life, she is turning into a wonderful family pet with an evolving personality.

Betty is wary at first but will take treats from adults and children. She’s fine being handled all over. Betty walks very confidently on the lead and harness. She needs a family as she’s still quite young. She’s starting to pay attention to soft toys and balls so children to play with her would be good. Not sure she needs another dog but that would also help her to develop what is a very endearing personality. She should be ready for a new home once she recovers from her op I would say. Definitely a fun dog. it on her terms rather than being chased and pursued. Betty is sociable with all dogs though wary about excitable ones. Betty lives happily with cats.

Betty can be left for reasonable periods as long as she is with another dog. Betty gets very excited when her foster mum returns and does play dance which is also great to see. She prefers to sleep on the sofa and has a loud snore! She loves her food (tails.com) but is fussy about treats.

Please remember, if you have a dog and it is not neutered, it is against our policies to re-home a dog with you.

Betty is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Worcester.

Name: Magic

Age: c. 1 year old

Breed: Jack Russell

Can I live with Children: Older

Can I live with cats: Yes

Can I live with other dogs: Will only be rehomed with another dog

Fostered: Newport

Lovable Magic is a 1-year old female Jack Russell, who is being fostered in Newport. She is a former puppy farm dog who has made significant progress on the road to rehabilitation after being left for dead until we rescued her. She will need patient owners who will allow her time to build up a bond with them and needs to live with an older female dog to give her reassurance and guidance.

People – Magic is so much better with people than when she first arrived but she is still a very nervous dog. She will occasionally take treats from a stranger but she is very fussy about who she will take them from.

Dogs – Magic adores other dogs and needs at least one to live with for confidence and play. She lives with a variety of dogs in her foster home and is more confident when with them. She looks up to her 3-year old female Shepherd companion who has looked after her and guided her to be a dog. She needs a similar companion for her to feel safe and to continue this.

Cats – Magic is fine with cats and currently has two cats in her foster home who she lives alongside with no issues. Initially, she used to bark at them a lot but she has no aggression towards them and is now just quietly curious about them.

In the home – Magic still feels very nervous in the home and needs time and space for her to find her place. She very rarely will sit with you of her own volition but she’s happy to sit with you and be gently fussed without running away if you pick her up. She will need patient owners who will allow her to have a balance of attention and free will.

Out and about – Magic eventually walks well on a lead, but she is very difficult to catch and will initially try and get away. Using a slightly longer line, she will eventually settle. Magic’s favourite place is to be outside in the open. She’s a hardy terrier and runs around with her doggie friends with no inhibitions. And prospective owners will need to test their ability to recall her in a secure area at first before letting her run free. As she looks up to her Shepherd companion, she has been easy to recall but not necessarily captures. By leaving a long line on her, it makes catching her easier. Magic is always keen to get out and about and sits by the gate to have her harness on. She travels well in the car but has a tendency to bark at anyone walking past with a pushchair.

Type of home – Magic was petrified on arrival in to foster but has made huge strides in her confidence. Having another dog, preferably an older female, is essential to support her rehabilitation. She walks around 4 miles each day and loves to run and play. She is very active and would be most suited to a rural environment or owners who will get her out and about to a rural location daily. New owners must not expect too much from her too soon and she will need time to settle. Her house must be 100% secure otherwise she’s likely to escape because of her initial nervousness.

Please remember, if you have a dog and it is not neutered, it is against our policies to re-home a dog with you.

Magic is due to be neutered shortly and is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to the Newport area to meet her.

Ruby and Flash – Adopted
Photo1
previous arrow
next arrow

I’m delighted to introduce Ruby and Flash, an incredibly gorgeous pair of bonded rabbits.

Like rocking horse droppings, bonded pairs of rabbits available for adoption are pretty rare…. And here we are with two pairs in as many weeks – how amazing is that! Let’s share Ruby and Flash’s FOAW story with you….

Ruby and Flash were surrendered to FOAW as victims of the sadly all too familiar reason of being unwanted children’s pets, kept in accommodation half the minimum welfare standard size for a rabbit and on a completely unsuitable diet. When they arrived with us, both had fur mites and mucky ears and Ruby had a weepy eye – all of which were easily sorted by a few visits to our fabulous vets and the love of one of our wonderful Fosterers.

Worryingly, Foster Mum noticed they were drinking far too much water. Back to the vets where blood tests revealed they both had problems with their livers. Lots of investigations and an array of different medications later, our very rabbit savvy vet has decided that actually they are very happy and healthy rabbits who just happen to have abnormal blood results!  They will continue to need to have six monthly blood tests with our vet who knows them best (FOAW will pay for these visits and any treatment that arises related to liver problems) but apart from that, they are simply perfect!

Foster Mum says that Ruby and Flash are two of the loveliest rabbits you could possibly meet. Gone are the timid little things that would only come out of hiding when no one was around.  They are really showing off their personalities now and are pretty much polar opposites!  Ruby is very outgoing, a little bit cheeky and always the first to greet you. Whereas Flash is just super chilled out and will happily hunker down for a good nose rub.  They are so special they are stars of the 2019 FOAW calendar and apparently were the perfect little models.

Ruby and Flash are both fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered and are now looking for their perfect forever home together. So, if you’re looking for a ready made pair of extremely gorgeous rabbits, look no further – just click on the link below and fill in the adoption application form. If you have any questions about their long term care and how FOAW continue to support any animal with known on-going medical conditions, just drop us a line on Facebook or via our website.

Name: Carol

Age: c. 7 years old

Breed: Bichon

Can I live with Children: Yes

Can I live with cats: Yes

Can I live with other dogs: Yes

Fostered in: Melksham, Wiltshire

Lovable Carol is around 7 old and is being fostered in Melksham. She is a former breeding dog who has made significant progress on the road to rehabilitation. Due to her poor eyesight, Carol is nervous of new people and will bark at them until she knows it is safe. She will need patient owners who will allow her time to build up a bond with them.

People – Carol is so much better with people than when she first arrived but can be a bit nervous with people she doesn’t know. She has a lovely bond with her foster mum and will bond with people when she trusts them.

Dogs – Carol can live by herself or will live with another dog. She currently lives with her foster sister, a tri-pawed collie named Becky and there are no issues with each other. Carol was originally part of a larger group of five dogs and she found this all overwhelming so we would advise against homing her in a home with lots of other dogs.

In the home – Carol is crate trained and happy to go in and out as she uses it for security when she feels anxious. Her crate training means she travels well in the car. She is fine to be left for up to two hours, provided she has doggie company. She enjoys to cwtch up with people she trusts.

Out and about – Carol has had a hard life, being kept indoors to breed puppies. Some of these breeding dogs find the outside fascinating and love to play. However, Carol is not one of them. She doesn’t particularly like walking far and on the whole, is not playful. For this reason, she would be more suited to short walks as opposed to a long trek.

Carol is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to arrange to travel to Melksham to meet her.

Name: Grace

Age: 5 Years

Breed: Old English Sheep Dog

Can I live with Children?: Yes, older dog savvy ones

Can I live with cats?: Not tested

Can I live with other dogs?: Yes, another dog a must

Fostered In: Vale of Glamorgan

Grace is a 5-year old Old English Sheepdog who is being fostered in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. Grace has a Grade 3/6 left hand side heart murmur, no medication and it does not slow her down at all.
People – Grace adores being touched, she would be happy to be constantly stroked and brushed for ever. She sometimes jumps and attempts to snap if trying to untangle a knotted bit of fur but a kiss and a cuddle and she is soon back to being laid back and loving. We were told that Grace did not like men but she is great the men in her foster home. She does bark whenever anyone comes into the room. Everyone ignores her barking, tells her to shut up and treats her like they do the other dogs and she soon settles. possibly needs more socialisation and reassuring. She seems to need reassuring more around adults that are not dog savvy. Grace is fine with dog savvy children and will live happily with children who understand a dog’s needs.

Dogs –  Yes, fine with other dogs and no issues so far with others she meets.

Cats – Not tested with cats

In the home – Grace is only left alone for short periods but with other dogs she trusts. Even if not alone, she will bark at any movement or sound so for the sake of happy neighbours, best not to leave her alone for too long. She loves being brushed and groomed which is just as well as she has to endure it for at least an hour every day. Whilst two of the resident dogs always go upstairs to sleep, Grace has never attempted the stairs.

Out and about – Grace is very good on the lead and does not pull. She does not walk to heel but is comfortable to walk on lead. She loves going for a run in the field off lead. She is good off lead, always staying close and comes when called and always waits at the gate to have her lead put on.

Type of home – A home with experienced owners of large breed dogs and a home that has already has a large breed, friendly dog is what we are looking for for Grace. Her new owners will have to be patient, kind and willing to let Grace settle in her own time. A big garden and access to lots of open spaces and owners who want to cuddle and groom her a lot.

Grace is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Tim and Burt are quite the double act and must be homed together. They are around 7 or 8 years old. Their foster mum says “they are super affectionate and work like a tag team approaching you together and you get double head bumps. They want fuss more than food and are very good together. Timothy tends to lead and Burt thinks’ if Tim is OK with this human, then it must be safe for me ‘. They like ear rubs and purr like a pair of revved up engines. I’m not sure what they would be like with other cats but I would like to think they would be curious rather than aggressive. Timothy is ginormous, but such a cuddle monster. Burt loves ear rubs and being stroked. They seem to eat any food- so not fussy in that department and Timothy dances for his food and it is totally adorable”

We are not taking enquiries or applications as yet but watch this space?

Currently on foster in South Wales having her assessment. This is what her foster home say about her

Pumpkin is a sweetheart about 7 years old. Loves to sit by you on the sofa. Not in the least bit aggressive but is very wary of people. Walks quite well on the lead but will stop in her tracks if someone is approaching. Will be quite a while before she could be trusted off lead as she would bolt.

Sophie has had a busy week,Monday to the vets for vaccination,so a car ride, and a little stop to my mothers, for a visit with her yorkies.
Sophie is slowly coming ,she still becomes skittish if i move to fast, and i found if i dont look at her she will come closer or do little things like clean herself,or eat a treat thats right by her,its have taken until now to get her onto my lap and stay there, she stayed half hour with me stroking her,i found when i took sophie in the car to my mothers if i wrap her in a blanket she just looks at me,its only 2 mins away,i found that Sophie likes my mothers yorkies, and is more out going with them, but will not go outdoors in my mothers, but she will here if i carry her to the door and she is with one or all of my dogs, i am going to start putting her harness on with a light lead, for a little time and take her around the house to rhe back door and take lead off for her to go out,she is good going forward on the lead, but when you put a little pressure to turn or slow down, she bounces around and gets really scared…these little ones just need time, the tiny things like licking your arm, or looking at you,is massive to them.
Sophie has been cut by a groomer that comes parks outside is experianced in cutting scared dogs, she looks so much better …than my attempt, although i did get all the matts …go me….well thats a little update…feeling positive, chilling with all my babysSummary to follow

Lovely Soxi is around 5 years old and hasn’t had the best of starts growing up in a very busy household where she became extremely stressed. Now in a quiet foster home she has flourished. Soxi would like a home where it’s not too frantic and she can have lots of cwtches as her confidence grows. She could be homed with older cat savvy children but needs to be an only cat and no dogs.

Honey is reserved for a home that was previously homechecked for another dog.  The adoptions team felt that Honey would be more suitable for them than the dog they previously applied for.

1st December – Update from foster home

Honey is really starting to come out of her shell and is becoming part of the crew. She’s found her waggy tail and is not afraid to use it 😁She is now eating with the other dogs she sleeps with them and has more or less abandoned her crate which was her place of safety. She’s also seeking affection from us and although she’s still a little nervous she’s so far from that scared little girl who first came to stay

_______________________________________________________
Meet Honey, who is currently on foster being assessed in South Wales. This is what her foster mum has to say about her journey so far

“She is a scared little 6 month old puppy. When she first came to us she was very shut down I don’t think she’d had any socialisation and would hide under the table and wet herself at any attempt to interact with her. She has come a long way in the three weeks we’ve had her and although still very nervous she is starting to finally behave like a playful little pup should. She will sit on the sofa and cuddle up and is now trying to interact with her foster siblings. She an absolute darling, very sweet natured and will be a perfect little dog for anyone willing to give her the time love and patience to enable her to break even further out of that little shell. She’d need someone home during the day Another friendly dog is a must and probably only older kids as she’s still very nervy. She’s got a problem with a runny tummy at the moment which we think is just down to a nerves but vets are going to send samples away to check that it’s nothing more sinister”.

Name: Eugenie

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Yorkshire Terrier

Can I live with Children?: Teenagers only

Can I live with cats?: Not tested

Can I live with other dogs?: Yes

Fostered In: Rhondda, South Wales

Eugenie is a 5-year old Yorkshire Terrier who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. She is slowly coming out of her shell but is still very jumpy with sudden or loud movements.

People – Eugenie does not like strangers and she will hide if frightened. Eugenie loves to be stroked and made a fuss of once she gets to know you.

Dogs –  Eugenie is not bothered by other dogs.  In the home Eugenie does not pay much attention to dogs although she likes to sleep with them and follow them around occasionally but will not interact with play.

Cats – Not tested but worth testing

In the home – Eugenie will hide if feels unsure of things. She is fine to be left alone for a few hours and feels more secure when left in crate. She will often take herself off for a lie down in the crate and it seems to be her ‘safe’ place. Toilet training is work in progress as, although Eugenie will go out garden if put out there, we still having quite a few accidents in house. Adopters will have to be prepared to work with Eugenie as living in a home is new to her.

Out and about – The great outdoors is all new to this little girl. She will walk short distance with a harness on but will freeze. This is something her adopters will have to be patient with and let Eugenie get used to things in her own time.

Type of home – We think Eugenie would be best homed in a quiet home with no small children. Eugenie could be rehomed with an older dog for company, but currently wont interact with play.

Eugenie is not neutered as she has just come out of season so commitment to neuter will be required and followed up. She will need some dental work at the same time. She is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Rhondda, South Wales

Jasmine is described by her foster mum as a funny old lady and at 14 years old why not. She appears to have been an only cat in her past life and will need to remain so when she finds her new home.  Jasmine doesn’t really socialise she likes to know that you are there and this gives her comfort but she is her own lady and very independent. The funny thing is though despite being independent she likes to sleep on your bed all night. During the day Jasmine likes to spend her time looking out of the window or sleeping. She does however love to be brushed and is vocal in a nice way when she is brushed. Jasmine’s favourite food is Tuna. Overall Jasmine is a sweet natured, chilled kitty who loves being groomed and fussed on her own terms

Name: Suki

Age: 7 Months

Breed: Pug X

Can I live with Children?: Older

Can I live with cats?: Yes

Can I live with other dogs?: Yes, a must

Fostered In: RCT South Wales

Suki is a 7-month old Pug cross puppy who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. She has had a rotten start in life and is having to learn to trust humans all over again.

People – . Suki is currently quite nervous and although she has improved greatly since she arrived she still needs lots of reassurance. She will need someone who can teach her the world can be fun and is happy for her to progress at her own pace.

Dogs –  Suki loves being with the others within the house, she snuggles up with them and would definitely need another dog or two in her new home.  She has not met any outsiders but we are sure she would be fine. She now eats her food in the kitchen with other dogs.

Cats – Suki lives happily with 3 cats

In the home – She’s nervous of sudden movements and will avoid hoover etc but is fine with tv and washing machine noises.  She could live with older sensible children or young adults who understand nervous dogs.  She has been left for short periods but would benefit from her humans being around most of the day. Suki will run around behind you wagging her tail like mad for attention but the second you reach out to her she’s gone. She won’t pass you in a doorway but will now happily jump up alongside you on the sofa and then enjoys a fuss, even nudging you with her nose for more if you stop too soon.

Out and about – Work in progress which her new home will need to work on. She is very nervous so this may be a slow progress and she would ideally need to be walked with another dog in a quiet area.

Type of home – Suki needs a new home with at least one kind resident dog to show her that not all humans are scary. She enjoys playing chase with the other dogs and then snuggling up to them for a nap. She is a really loving girl who just needs that extra bit of time to learn to trust. I’m sure there is a playful pup hidden under all the fear just waiting to come out.

Suki is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment.  Suki does have a slight heart murmur which will need to be checked on her annual booster time, but causes no issues currently. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in RCT, South Wales.

Update: 05/03/2019 Suki moves to another foster home and her new foster mum comments about her: She’s so very nervous it’s heartbreaking to think of what she’s been through in her short life. She is rather partial to some chicken and cheese, not so fussed on her dried food even when soaked in gravy.

UPDATE 04/02/2019 Suki update my heart breaks she so wants to be your friend but has no courage still will not take any food out of your hand. If she can see you have anything in your hand she is gone. At some stage of her 7 months I know she has been beaten hence no good photos. But on the plus side she loves playing with my other dog’s when she wags her tail her whole body wags. She loves her food and is starting to play with toys or pegs or large stones if she is happy who cares. She sits next to me all night can then do anything with her and she loves it being gromed tickle belly but i can’t stand she makes a run for it. There must be someone to love her like we do.

Megan – 6 years old – Scottish Terrier

Currently on foster in Berkshire under assessment. This is what her foster mum has to say about her journey so far

“Megan… is very shy with strangers but once she gets to know you she turns into little miss sunshine, always has a waggy tail and is pleased to see you, she loves nothing better than to sit on her humans knee for a cuddle and a belly scratch. Bright and playful this little miss will keep you amused with her mischievous antics for hours. She mouths your hands in play, so we’re currently working on this along with house training and lead walking. Megan is not quite ready to go to her forever home just yet but I don’t think it’ll be long before she can be adopted.”

Name: Camilla

Age: 7 years old

Breed: Scottish Terrier

Can I live with Children?:Yes

Can I live with cats?: Not cat tested

Can I live with other dogs?: Yes, a must

Fostered In: Berkshire

Camilla is a 7-year old Scottish Terrier, who is being fostered in Berkshire. At times Camilla comes across as being a very serious dog, but she is very playful, loves her soft toys and often plays zoomies around the house.

People – Camilla is shy with strangers but loves you when she gets to know you. Again, very shy at first but doesn’t seem to be any more fazed by little people than big people. Loves a scratch behind her ears and is happy with you stroking her on her head and body.

Dogs – Camilla enjoys being with other dogs and will need a companion in her new home.

Cats – Not cat tested

In the home – Camilla has been left for up to 4 hours. She is not destructive in the home although she is still frightened of the vacuum cleaner. She’s been known to bark at the telly when a wildlife program comes on but her favourite is watching Paul O’Grady For the Love of Dogs. When she’s not cuddling up with her foster collie companion, she loves nothing better than to snuggle on your lap.

Out and about – Camilla is unsure of the outside world still and so lead training is ongoing. This gentle socialisation and training will have to be kept up in her new home.

Type of home – Camilla needs to be with a confident resident dog and would suit an active retired person or a family with older children. She needs someone who is prepared work on her training and socialisation as well as get her used to being a loved family companion.

Please remember, if you have a dog and it is not neutered, it is against our policies to re-home a dog with you.

Camilla is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Berkshire

Name: Jennie

Age: 3 years

Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Blenheim

Can I live with children: 7+

Can I live with cats: Not tested

Can I live with dogs: Yes

Fostered in: Stourbridge, West Midlands

Jennie is a 3-year old Cavalier King Charles spaniel who is being fostered in Stourbridge, West Midlands. She is just the most friendly dog in the world. She wants to go straight up to everyone she meets for a mega fuss (whether they want it or not!).

People: Jennie loves people and enjoys a fuss from everyone. As she is quite exuberant, she will only be rehomed where any children are aged 7 years and over.

Dogs: In her foster home she is fine with the other two foster dogs, although she can be a little possessive of foster mum and warn the others off on occasions. Outside the home she always wants to greet dogs but this has been kept to a minimum as she’s only just had her second vaccination.

Cats: Not tested with cats but will bark at any that come near her garden.

In the home: Jennie is quite happy to be left for about 3 hours as long as she is with another dog. Paper and tissues need to be out of reach as she has been known to chew them. She takes no notice of any household appliances and is housetrained in her foster home.

Type of home: A home with several people around to give her lots of fuss would be best for her. We feel that Jennie may become a bit possessive if she only lives with one person as she bonds very strongly to people. She is an active girl who adores attention. She loves laps and sharing a bed where possible.

Jennie is fully vaccinated and is up to date with flea and worming treatments. Jennie cannot be spayed before the middle of January as she has only recently come out of season. If she was to be rehomed before that time it is a condition of adoption that she will be neutered (a discount voucher may be provided) and follow up checks will be done. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to her foster home to meet her in the West Midlands.

Update: I’ve had a busy day in the garden!
I fell in the pond because I’ve never seen one before, and Sha took the cover off to clean it! I was chasing the cat and I didn’t realise I couldn’t walk on water.
I shook myself off and I think Joey may have laughed at me!
I didn’t care though – the sun was shining and I love the garden so much I never want to go back inside – unless I get scared – then I run as fast as I can to get into the house!
I’m really good at steps now too – even though I had no idea how to get up or down them a few weeks ago!
Nige cut all the laws today – I’d never seen a lawnmower until today, but I wasn’t bothered a bit.
Spike and Joey had chicken feet this afternoon for their snack, I wanted one but I couldn’t eat it in the garden, I don’t like being still for very long when I’m outside – so Sha put one in the igloo and I had a quiet chew for half an hour.
I’m pretty exhausted now, too tired to play even, but I’ve got my purple velvet cushion – I LOVE velvet cushions – this one is huge – but I’m not sharing with Joey tonight – or Spike! I’m having it all to myself!

Update 11/3/2019: Today we are having a good day. I was allowed to catch him, stroke him, get a jumper on him and take him up the garden to play 😀
10 mins and he is shattered as he has no stamina and no muscle mass 😥but we are increasing play times by a few minutes each session

Update as of 1st December: Trying to get Poe to relax a little. This little boy is scared of every little noise. He spends all his time in his dog bed or running from every little movement and sound.
Just had to wash him as he dirties his self with fright, so put him with Patsy and Krissi as they cuddle some times when Patsy lumps herself on gentle Krissi.

__________________________________________

Meet the very scared little Poe. He is not used to living in a home or being around humans. Currently in foster in Wales being assessed.

At this time we feel he would be better off in a multi dog household with no pressure from humans on how to behave. No children home as he would find them to scary.

Bach & Eevee – Happy Ever After
Bach Own
previous arrow
next arrow

Tiny beautiful Bach came to us when he was found as a stray in Barry. He was a lovely, calm and confident little man – and we were determined to find the perfect forever friend for him.

Along comes Eevee – a feisty little lady who had lost her male friend and wanted a new bunny to play with.

Bonding was not straightforward with these two. Initially Eevee was curious, but certainly not convinced Bach was the bunny for her.  However, Bach was cool as a cucumber and decided immediately he liked her.  As with every human who ever met Bach, Eevee’s mum fell in love straight away and hoped that perseverance would convince her girl that Bach was indeed the perfect partner she’d been looking for.

Eevee was very territorial and not totally happy about this new man being on her turf. She wanted him as a friend but in true female fashion certainly wasn’t going to make it easy for him.

Bonding these two took around three months, but through the sheer hard work, determination and patience of Eevee’s wonderful mum they are now a happily bonded couple – living the perfect life together.  As always, the FOAW rabbit team continued to offer support and advice throughout the bonding process for as long as it was needed.

We are so pleased for little Bach and Eevee and hope they have the happiest of lives together.

Mop & Petra
Photo 2 (both)

So you all know we love bunny bonding at FOAW, firmly believing that – apart from the odd exception (there’s always one isn’t there Mr Benjamin White?!) – rabbits are far happier with a friend of their own kind. And, although our bunny bonders are extremely experienced, it is always an anxious time (think parent hovering when youngest child brings first suitor home!).  Will they like each other?  Are they behaving themselves?!  The only difference being our bonders are delighted to see licking of heads…. Parents I imagine not so much!!

Anyway, I’m rabbiting on…. Can you imagine our excitement when two lone bunnies did it all by themselves!  Fabulous foster mum Leanne sets the scene:

Mop was handed into FOAW after he was found as a stray in Porth. Straight away he was a friendly and calm fella, but he had matted fur, very long nails and slightly long teeth – all quickly sorted out with a visit to the vets (poor Mop got slightly more than he bargained for as we obviously took the opportunity to have him neutered!). However, he was a bit of a worry as he started to lose weight.  Back to the vets, who did loads of tests which were all absolutely normal and it was put it down to him having gone through so much and being lonely.

Then along came Petra. She was surrendered to us by a lovely lady who had numerous animals and felt she could not give them the care they deserved, so selflessly contacted us.  Petra was in good condition but very nervous”

Now I need to tell you that Leanne has simply the best set up for rabbits, and they all have loads of space to explore and binky around the garden. Leanne says that Mop was in his element but poor Petra was petrified of the large garden on her own and would hide under a hutch the whole time.

Leanne continues “Mop showed great interest in Petra, so I decided to introduce them, and they fell in love instantly. They still had their own separate runs but they would always spend time close to one another.  Then one morning, I found Mop in Petra’s run, laying together – and that was that – they were an item – self bonded – obviously it was meant to be and Mop’s a determined little fella”.

Now Petra has Mop, she is becoming much braver and starting to enjoy life, and Mop continues to just be Mop! They are used to having the run of Foster Mum’s garden so have high demands when it comes to space to run about.  The more space they have, the happier they are and they are simply a delight to watch enjoying playing with each other.  Prepare for much time spent just watching rabbits!

They are both excellent hay eaters so, as with all rabbits, will need an endless supply. Mop will need to be brushed more than most rabbits because of his fabulous fur – or as Leanne puts it – long auburn flowing locks!

Mop and Petra are both fully vaccinated and spayed/neutered and are now looking for their perfect forever home together. So, if you’re looking for a ready made pair of extremely gorgeous rabbits, look no further – just click on the link below and fill in the adoption application form:

RESERVED SUBJECT TO HOMECHECK

Name: Hermione

Age: 9 weeks

Breed: Pug X

Can I live with Children?: Older children

Can I live with cats?: Yes under supervision

Can I live with other dogs?: Yes

Fostered In: Crewe

Hermione is a 9 week old (on 16/11/2018) Pug cross puppy who is being fostered in Crewe, Cheshire. She is a typical puppy. She is into everything and always making you laugh with her comical ways. Hermione is just learning to wag her piggy tail and play with toys so she is amusing and a real little character.

People – As with all puppies, Hermione loves to be around people. She does not respect personal space and will make a fuss at the slightest opportunity.

Dogs –  Hermione is very sociable with other dogs as typical boisterous puppy

Cats – Hermione will try and chase the cat to play with-but she is  quickly learning that the cat will tell her off!

In the home – as a puppy farm puppy Hermione will need full training from basic house training to lead training. She sleeps in a cage at night. Being a young puppy she will chew and investigate everything so will need to be closely monitored while getting used to her new home.

Out and about – Hermione is just getting used to her collar and has not had any walks yet.

Type of home – As Hermione is a very small the puppy she would need someone home for the majority of the day and would not suit being left for long periods of time. She needs a home that has experience of pugs and a family that will give a lot of time to training and continuing socialisation.

Hermione is chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Hermione is too young to be neutered but will be issued with a neutering contract which will make it the responsibility of her adopters to get this done when she is 6 months of age. This will be followed up. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Crewe
