This lovely young lady is LOLA she is only three years old and has been described by her foster mum as the perfect house guest. She came to us as a poorly stray and our vets found that she had a kidney problem which was removed and she is now fully recovered. The vets said they are not expecting any further problems and cats cope very well with one. However when LOLA is adopted we would cover vet bills for any future kidney issues.

Name: Perry
Age: 7/8 years old
Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Can I live with Children: Yes
Can I live with cats: Not tested
Can I live with other dogs: Yes, a must
Fostered In: RCT
Perry is a wonderful, well mannered gentleman who has had a rotten start in life. He was a puppy farm stud dog and he came to us in a dreadful state. Glad to say he is well on the mend now although his ears will need ongoing attention with our vets. Perry is looking for a long-term foster home where FOAW will cover all of this non-routine vets fees.
Perry is a delightful boy who’s personality is really starting to show through. He loves his grub, he loves his humans and he is really starting to enjoy his walks.
People – Perry loves everyone although he is more used to being around adults he doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. He will approach anyone and is happy to be touched and cuddled.
Dogs – Perry loves doggy company and he will need at least one other brother or sister for company and to help him with his transition in to pet hood.
Cats – Perry has not lived with a cat but seems indifferent to them when he sees them.
In the home – Perry sleeps on his humans bed, is housetrained and spends most of his day sleeping as befits a gentleman of his status. He loves his food but, with only one decent tooth in his head, he likes to take his time. Perry can be left for short periods but he is very human dependent now and can fret if the absence is to often or prolonged
Out and about – Perry prefers to walk off lead but will walk with a harness in preference to a collar. He can be let off lead in parks and fields as he will not stray far from his human.
Type of home – Perry needs a long term foster home with someone who is present most of the time and understands his limitations. His ears need constant attention and he will need frequent visits to our vets in South Wales. For this reason, potential homes will need to be in the South Wales area.
Perry is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in Rhondda Cynon Taff
Anna is a fun independent personality who is a pleasure to be around. She is a born adventurer and if you are looking for a spider hunter then look no further! Her favourite hobbies and chasing balls, bells ribbons and her absolute favourite – flies!
Anna adores playing with her foster siblings and especially loves chasing her sister Nia around. Anna can be a little bossy at times and so she is better suited to more submissive cats. She is also dog friendly.
Adoption fee is £50 for one cat or £90 for two. All our cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and come with a full health check.
Tippy our cheeky young chappy is only around 1 year old. We were asked to help him after a relationship breakdown and he is settling in well to his new Foster Home.
If you are looking for a sociable young cat with bags of personality then look no further. Tippy has obviously been used to being the boss in his previous home, and he likes to be the boss with his Foster siblings. Luckily, the other cats in the house are calm in nature and just roll their eyes at him – however he would not be suitable to be rehomed with other dominant cats. Tippy needs to be rehomed either alone or with calm natured cats. He hasn’t been dog tested.
Tippy’s Foster Mother describes him as a bundle of fun. He adores attention and he’s the first at the door when she wakes up looking for attention. As soon as she sits down he is nearby looking for a fuss.
All our cats are neutered/spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and come with a full health check. Adoption fee is £50 for one cat and £90 for two cats.
To rehome Tippy please complete the following form

Nia is a stunning 16 month old long haired cat. Even though she is still an older kitten herself she has sadly already had a litter of kittens and experienced a really tough labour. Nia has now been spayed and thankfully she won’t have to experience such an ordeal again.
Before coming into rescue it is likely that Nia didn’t have the kindest of lives and this has meant that she doesn’t trust or allow handling easily. Nia’s family would have to understand that she would need her space to settle in and gain her trust.
During the day she prefers to hide away, but at night her Foster Mother describes how she comes alive. She loves tearing around he house at night playing with her Foster sister Anna.
Nia loves the company of cats, especially those who like playing. She is likely to be unsettled by smaller children but would be ok with calm animal savvy older children. She hasn’t been dog tested.
Our adoption fee is £50 for one cat or £90 for two. All our cats are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and come with a full health check.
Leo is 10 years old and is an absolutely gorgeous boy. Just like so many cats he was sadly left behind when his owners moved away. He is such a friendly and loving cat it’s so sad that he doesn’t have his own special family to love him.
His foster family describe him as extremely loving and playful. He may be 10 but in cat years that doesn’t make him old. He has been absolutely loving running around playing with one of his Foster Brothers, and his foster mother says that he is the first at the door to greet her.
Leo hasn’t been dog tested but he is cat friendly and suitable to live with sensibly animal savvy children.
All our cats are neutered/spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and have had a full health check.

Shego is approximately three years old. Initially Shego was a little nervous after coming into rescue but she is now settling well into her new Foster Home.
Shego really is a lovely cat with bags of personality. Initially a little wary she now loves attention and demands a cuddle from her Fosterer first thing in the morning. This diva needs a cuddle before tucking into her breakfast! The attention is always on her terms however!
Shego’s favourite pastime is sitting in the window and sunbathing! She isn’t allowed out currently while she is on Foster but it is clear that she can’t wait to get out and explore. She adores playing with her toys and particularly likes dreamies – if you have a dreamy she will be your best friend forever.
She would prefer a home without other cats and dogs and would only be suitable to live with older animal savvy children.

Fostered In: Worcester
Lacey is a friendly, well-adjusted little terrier x puppy who is being fostered in Worcester. She has loads of energy and a tonne of love and affection to shower on her new family.
People – Lacey loves all people and she’s the archetypal lapdog. Lacey is happy around children if they don’t rush at her.
Dogs – Quite scared of dogs when out but settles quickly dogs she knows. She can guard her food so we think she may be better as an only dog although a puppy savvy family may be ok, Lacey has improved around other dogs and has now started playing while out and about with her foster family.
Cats – No cats, please.
In the home – Lacey can be left for short periods with or without a crate. She is not destructive and has yet to show an interest in toys. Her housetraining is a work in progress
Out and about – Lacey is great on walks and is excellent on a lead.
Type of home – Lacey may need to be the only dog as she can be very pushy. No cats but, other than that, she would be suitable for any mix of humans or a single person household where she can have lots of attention.
Lacey is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Worcester

Name: Donna Age: 8 months Breed: Miniature Schnauzer Can I live with Children: Visiting children only Can I live with cats: Yes Can I live with other dogs: Yes Fostered In: RCT, South Wales
Donna is an 8-month old Miniature Schnauzer puppy who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales.
Donna was born with almost no soft palate and underwent a rare procedure at Langford Veterinary hospital to build one. It was only possible to create half but surgery was successful. She may require further surgery but we are optimistic that this will not be necessary. It is essential for her well-being that she is kept to a strict diet of soaked kibble.
Failure to follow this could cause problems in her nasal cavity possibly resulting in infections. Friends of Animals Wales will cover costs for all further surgery or issues at a later date related to her soft palate but adopters will be expected to cover day to day vet care.
People – Donna has been well socialised and loves people young and old. She currently lives with a three-year-old and an 18-month old child but her foster mum is a vet nurse and is very vigilant if the children drop food, ensuring that Donna doesn’t get anything that she shouldn’t. Due to this danger, we feel that should only be rehomed to an adult home with visiting children only.
Dogs – Donna is fine with other dogs. She joins her foster mum at work in a busy veterinary practice and lives with a Golden Retriever at home.
Cats – Donna lives with two cats at home. Donna is interested in them but does not chase them or bother them so with continued training we feel that she will happily live with a dog-savvy cat.
In the home – Donna behaves well in the home. She is house trained and non-destructive but she is a typical puppy so will chew things if left in her reach. Her new family will have to be prepared for toileting accidents because of the change in surroundings until she settles.
Out and about – Donna enjoys her walks. Because of her soft palate issue, she does need to be walked on a harness but does well with this.
Type of home – Donna needs an adult-only home with people who have plenty of time to spend with her. She is left for up to four hours a day and is crate trained so may be suitable for part-time workers. She is very “waggy” and loves to have cuddles. She is happiest playing and we think she will be very good at agility. She can live with other dogs, with dog savvy cats but any children should be visiting only.
Donna is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales
If you are interested in adopting Donna please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
Name: Ursula Age: 8 years Breed: Bichon Frise Can I live with Children: Yes sensible children Can I live with cats: Not tested Can I live with other dogs: Yes, at least 1 other dog Fostered In: RCT
Ursula is an 8-year old Bichon Frise who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. She is a very quiet girl. She loves sitting on your lap for a cuddle and will happily stay there all day or lounge on the sofa. She also loves her food. Ursula is getting her used to life as a pet. She is a great little dog who will make a great addition to a family who will give her that bit of extra time to realise that all humans are not scary.
People – Ursula loves everyone. Slightly older gentle children in her new home as she doesn’t really like play but is happy to sit by you for fuss. Visiting toddlers would be fine
Dogs – Yes Ursula is used to living with other dogs of varying sizes. Bouncy puppies are too much for her but older calmer dogs are fine.
She can grumble at other dogs if they come to close when she is on your lap but will stop if you tell her No. Ursula would need at least one brother or sister to teach her how to be a pet.
Cats – Ursula is not tested on cats but she is a calm little girl and should be ok
In the home –Ursula can be left for short periods and doesn’t do any damage. She does love her human company though so if possible would prefer to come with you. She has been crate tested but doesn’t need to be in a crate as she’s not destructive at all. Ursula has never played with toys and she is not quite sure what to do with them. This is fairly typical of ex-breeding dogs and this will change as she gets more confident but, at the moment, she prefers a cuddle on the sofa.
Out and about – Yes Ursula is a fine weather walker. She has a short walk a day but is equally as happy to stay indoors or just potter around the garden.
Type of home – Ursula would love to live with a retired couple who are at home most of the day and will take her for short walks. She could live with children or other kind dogs but this isn’t necessary as she just loves her humans. She would like a garden where she is free to potter in when she wants to.
Ursula has had an operation to remove a cataract from both eyes. She is currently on eye drops several times a day which will need to continue in her new home. Ursula is still under Rowe vets in Bristol where she is currently going every month. She has three lots of drops which are gradually being reduced but she may always be on some
Ursula is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Rhondda, South Wales
If you are interested in adopting Ursula please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat application form
Name: Teddie Age: 8 months Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Can I live with Children: Older children only Can I live with cats: Yes, dog savvy ones Can I live with other dogs: Yes Fostered In: RCT
Teddie is an 8-month old Yorkshire Terrier who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. He is a typical terrier, full of energy and mischief so he will need a home that’s prepared to give him plenty of attention. He will bark at anything he is unsure about as he is still getting used to lots of things. He comes from a home where he is used to getting his own way so his new owners would need to maintain a level of discipline to stop him slipping back into bad habits
People – Teddie loves humans although he has not really had too much contact with children. He has met children aged 12 and 14 and he is fine with them. He seems fine with children when out and about.
Dogs – Teddie is fine with other dogs. He is very lively so he would have to be with dogs that would tolerate him as he will not take no for an answer when he wants to play with them.
Cats – Teddie is fine with cats and wants to play with them and they tend not to like that. Any cats in the home will have to be dog savvy.
In the home – Teddie is fine in the home and can be left for short periods. He is left in a crate after making sure he has had a walk first. He sleeps all night in his crate overnight and he is fine. Teddie is not destructive but he will pinch anything he can reach, tissues especially! If you drop anything he will pick it up in a flash and run away with it.
Out and about – Teddie behaves well on a lead, pulls a bit when he first goes out but soon calms down. He does want to say hello to everybody or any dog that he meets and he will pick up anything on the pavement if he can to carry while he walks. He is getting used to the noise of traffic he will stop if a bus or a big lorry goes by but that will be ok given time.
Type of home – A home that has plenty of time for him and we think a home with other dogs because he does enjoy playing with them. His new family would have to be very firm with him and understand that he is still young and has a lot of growing up to do.
Teddie is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in South Wales
f you are interested in adopting Teddie please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
Update 12/6/18 the girls have now found their forever home
Daisy and Indie are mother and daughter Chihuahuas aged 3 years and 18 months respectively. They are being fostered in RCT, South Wales, and have always lived together. They are special little snowflakes. They are typical Chi’s in that they are absolute sweethearts but won’t stand any nonsense. They are very dependent
on their human and are definitely lap dogs.People – Daisy is quick to trust and greet all humans and will always present herself for a cuddle. Indie takes a few minutes to warm to you but, once she has, is the hungriest for attention. They compete for attention which never results in nastiness but they can get very excited which is why older children would be better. They are constant companions who thrive in the company of humansDogs – Daisy and Indie are fine with other dogs although they definitely have little dog syndrome. Any disrespect will be dealt with by warning and this usually does the trick. They mix well with all dogs but are just as happy on their own with their humans.Cats – The girls have not been tested with catsIn the home – Daisy and Indie are housetrained but won’t hold it in. If they cannot get outside they will use a training pad. They are not destructive at all and spend their days following their human around or sleeping. They don’t seem particularly interested in play although they will chase each other on occasion. They sleep well at night preferring the human bed to a dog bed.Out and about – Daisy and Indie love their walks and are well behaved in companyType of home – Daisy and Indie will be well suited to a home that has experience with Chi’s and their little idiosyncrasies. With or without other dogs, as long as they have humans to wrap around their little fingers they will be happy and well adjusted.Daisy and Indie are neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with their flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet them in their foster home in South Wales
f you are interested in adopting Daisy and Indie please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.
They did it …… 23 degree heat on the way up and snow at the top. Well done Team Mountain Goats!! xx
This lovely lady is an amazing supporter of FoaWales
Please show support her in her venture if you can.
Samantha Mainwaring
Hi guys. As we already know, Friends of the Animals Wales is an amazing charity. 2 years ago they allowed me to adopt two very handsome kittens 😻😻. If it hadn’t been for Friends of the Animals I dread to think what would have happened to my two boys, their siblings and their mother.
I’d really like to give something back….
So, on 25th May 2018, myself and 3 friends, “The Mountain Goats” are trekking up Ben Nevis. It’s the highest mountain in the British Isles at a lofty 1,345m. To put it into perspective, the Big Ben clock tower is 96m and the London Eye is 135m. 😬😥😱. We’re not the fittest but we’ll try our absolute best and we’re utterly determined to reach the summit.🏔
Just wondering if any of you would like to sponsor myself and the other goats to make the climb? ALL DONATIONS GO TO FRIENDS OF THE ANIMALS WALES. Us goats would be VERY grateful!!!! You can sponsor us via the PayPal account of the charity: Foawales@aol
– with reference “Ben Nevis”.
Name: Chance Age: 6 years old Breed: Beagle Can I live with Children: Only older children/teens Can I live with cats: Not tested Can I live with other dogs: Yes, must be homed with at least 1 other dog Fostered In: Worcestershire
Chance is a very frightened 6-year old Beagle girl, fostered in Worcestershire. She coming on in leaps and bounds, but needs to be introduced gently to all new experiences. One of the gentlest spirits we have met Chance such a delight to watch when she forgets her fears. So cuddly when she trusts.
People – Chance is very nervous of new people. Once she gets to know you she becomes very loving and cuddly. Now she is confident enough to be able to go out on a lead she is seeing more people and she is becoming more more relaxed with people as long as they don’t crowd her. She is very jumpy if people wave hands around.
Dogs – Yes. Has met a good range of age and size, Yorkie to Greyhound to large Labrador without problem. She shows no aggression.
Cats – Not Tested
In the home – Chance is normally left with another dog or two, but has been left on her own a couple of times. She is not worried about electrical appliances although she is easily frightened by random loud noises, bumps and bangs. She is very slowly becoming less frightened by general household noises, but we don’t think she would like a very noisy environment. In the early days a sudden bump would result in her running scared to a place of safety and not coming out for some hours. At the moment she tends to run out of the room but comes back after a short time.
She is worried about large pieces of material, towels, sheets, duvet covers, dog blanket. Very sad to see but we are working on it. Chance has the usual puppy farm dog problem with going through doors – she has come on well with this, although there are still odd occasions when I have to move right away from the door before she will come in.
Out and about – Chance loves going out on a lead. She pulls a little but is not difficult. She doesn’t walk to heel yet.
Type of home – Chance needs an active, but calm home. She loves going out and walking. Although she is nervous with people she actually enjoys company of people she knows and we think she would like a home where someone is around a lot of the time. Her adoptive family will have to understand her fear and be willing to be patient and work at her speed (with a gentle nudge). Anyone who puts some time and effort in will be richly rewarded. Chance must have at least 1 calm dog with her. We think she will learn to play, but at the moment she isn’t sure what to do.
Chance is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Worcester
If you are interested in adopting Chance please read about our rehoming process and complete a Pre-Adoption form (link below) and one of our adoption coordinators will contact you for a chat.

Annabel is a 1-year old Turkish tripawd crossbreed who is being fostered in RCT, South Wales. She loves nothing more than a cuddle and a fuss on the sofa. Although she only has 3 legs that doesn’t stop her doing anything and she loves running around and playing
People – Annabel is great with all people. She loves a fuss and could live with sensible children. As she is still quite young she would be too much for toddlers.
Dogs – Yes she gets on well with other dogs
Cats – No. No cats in her new home please
In the home – Annabel can be left for short periods although she will bark when you first leave her. She is used to all household noises but does enjoy staying just outside all the action when she gets tired. She loves to play but loves her quiet time too.
Out and about – Annabel walks well on the lead. Her stamina needs to be built up so it will be short walks to start with. She is great in the car.
Type of home – Annabel would suit a large number of homes. She loves cuddles so as long as you have time to spare to make a fuss of her she’ll be happy. She can live with or without children or other dogs. She wouldn’t like to be left for long periods of time but a few hours is ok. She would love a garden to run around in and a couple of short walks a day.

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen
”
Canine Behaviour and Training degree students at Reaseheath College have been working with some of our most challenging rescue dogs in weeks, being taught how to work with nervous dogs and how to develop trust. It’s great to see our dogs developing trust with them, and the next generation developing knowledge to help rescue dogs
something pretty fantastic happened in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
A motion put before the whole RCTCBC by Councillor Maureen Webber and seconded by Councillor Susan Pickering to back Lucy’s Law and support a ban on third-party selling of dogs was passed unanimously.
This is the most wonderful news and we want to thank all Councillors of all parties for their backing.
RCTCBC is the first council not just in Wales but in the whole UK to stand up and give their voice for the voiceless and we are so very, very, proud and grateful.
We now hope that other Welsh Councils will also show their support and of course the Welsh Government. perhaps you could share this post with your Councillor, your AM and your MP. Lets see Wales show we are a land of caring and compassion.
Will you change your profile picture to show your supported the petition for #LucysLaw?
Here’s the petition – please sign and share it: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/213451
You may have already signed something similar – but this is a NEW unified specific #LucysLaw petition designed to help reassure the politicians that we really want this giant step for animal welfare.
If we ban dog dealers it will finally make it perfectly clear to the puppy buyers that this is a tragic and illicit trade.
to bring you up to date on the story so far do read this: https://www.linkedin.com/…/why-poor-dog-needed-lucys-law-h…/
Please tell your MP you support the all-party-push to remove the shop window for puppy farming and puppy traffickers. You can make ALL the difference, here’s how to really easily contact your MP: https://www.writetothem.com/
You don’t need to know their name, it will find them with your postcode.
We need your help to make it very clear to the MPs that this has the support of ALL dog lovers, that this is a logical first step towards better Animal Welfare in this country.
Some charities have sadly been dragging their feet – but not the innovative National Animal Welfare Trust (remember they led all the other charities by bringing the brilliant OpenPaw method to the UK for the first time – turning their centres into doggie universities, transforming ordinary, normally hard-to-home rescue dogs into highly-trained and therefore highly desirable pets…).
National Animal Welfare Trust said of Lucy’s Law: “National Animal Welfare Trust’s vision is that all puppies bred today are raised with the best animal welfare interests in mind so they arrive in their new home healthy and microchipped after spending their early weeks with their mum and siblings in an appropriate environment.
“We have not seen the full detail of the proposal for Lucy’s Law but from what we understand, Lucy’s Law is calling for a ban on pet shops and other third party dealers selling puppies, effectively ending puppy farming and trafficking. Instead, puppies would only be available from rescue centres or ethical breeders who will let a potential customer see the puppies and the mother together.
“NAWT welcomes this concept as a first step to ending puppy farming and looks forward to hearing more about the detail of this proposed legislation, its implementation and most importantly, its enforcement.”
NAWT leads the way again.
Why WOULDN’T everyone who cares about dogs back this?
This is the first of many steps, but every journey needs to start and HOW MANY YEARS have we been waiting for this one to get going?
Too long.
Please tell your MP you are fully behind #LucysLaw and if you want, why not urge YOUR favourite charity to throw their considerable weight and resources behind the soon-to-be-announced cross-party move that aims to IMMEDIATELY ban third party sales of dogs… well you pay their wages! Why shouldn’t they reflect your wishes?
Why is it called #LucysLaw ?
Lisa Garner’s Lucy died a year ago after enjoying an all too brief period of being loved, after a life of misery as a puppy farm breeding slave. Lucy’s legacy should be to release all her descendants from slavery.
Who wouldn’t back this…
apart from Cruella de Vil?
Social media means you can now tell your MP that you care about this…. in days gone by all these decisions would be made behind closed doors in committee rooms.
Your MP is just a click away – your votes count and while this may not be the first piece of legislation on your ‘to do’ list, once we click and treat politicians for becoming animal welfare champions, we will encourage them to do more and more.
We can do this, if we all stick together!
#LucysLaw
