Due to their past and the fact they are still learning that the world is a safe place, Cilla and Dorothy are looking for a calm, adult home or one with older, sensible teenage children who understand the importance of giving them space and allowing trust to develop naturally.
Cilla and Dorothy (or Dotty, as her foster mum affectionately calls her) came into rescue together after spending the first four years of their lives on a breeding farm. They have never known what it is to simply be loved family pets. Instead, they were used only for breeding and missed out on the socialisation, kindness and experiences that every dog deserves.
Despite everything they have been through, these beautiful girls are beginning to discover that life can be different.
Cilla is the braver of the two. She’s naturally inquisitive, has a constantly wagging tail, and although still cautious, she’ll slowly approach for a tasty treat and may even reward your patience with a gentle lick of your hand.
Dotty is taking life at her own pace. She prefers to let Cilla do the investigating while she watches from a safe distance. She’s not quite ready to fully trust people yet, but with time, patience and a confident canine friend to show her the way, we know her confidence will continue to grow.
Neither girl has ventured out into the big wide world on walks yet, as it is still overwhelming for them. They have been wearing harnesses in the garden and are slowly getting used to them, with lead work being introduced gently. Their new family will need to continue this at a pace that allows them to feel safe and secure.
Neither Cilla nor Dotty has discovered the joy of toys yet, but we’re sure that, in time, they’ll learn how much fun being a dog can be.
They are both happy living alongside cats and small furries and show no interest in them.
At night, the girls sleep contentedly together in a crate in the kitchen.
Toilet training is progressing well. They enjoy spending time in the garden and will happily toilet outside when they have access. As with many ex-breeding dogs, occasional accidents may happen, particularly overnight, so their new family will need to be understanding while they continue to learn.
Mealtimes are peaceful, although Cilla is definitely the greedier of the pair and, given half a chance, would happily help herself to Dotty’s dinner too!
Cilla and Dorothy must be rehomed together and are looking for a patient, loving home with at least one friendly, confident resident dog. Having another well-adjusted dog to learn from will be invaluable as they continue to discover that people can be kind, homes can be safe, and their breeding days are finally behind them.
These girls aren’t looking for perfection—they’re looking for someone who will celebrate every tiny step forward. Someone who won’t expect too much too soon, who will let them decompress, build trust in their own time, and finally experience the happy, carefree life they have always deserved.
If you have the patience to help two very special girls blossom, the reward of watching them slowly discover love and happiness will be truly priceless. ❤️
