Hi. My name is Saffron but my friends call me Saffy. I’m a 10 month old cavalier King Charles spaniel. My favourite thing in the world is eating and I will eat anything offered to me. I use a special bowl to slow me down but my foster mum says I still inhale it not taste it! I have to be watched carefully and usually eat in a crate as I will eat everyone else’s food if I get a chance. I also love a cuddle on someone’s lap and would like my forever family to like this too.
I love to play with a ball and will push it around and bark at it. I even bring it to my foster mum or dad for them to play too. There are some loud noises that scare me but I soon settle when they stop. I’m not sure about the hoover and bark at it when my foster mum uses it. I travel well in a crate in the car and am always excited to go out. My foster mum says that whoever adopts me will be very lucky as I am a very special and brave girl (and very beautiful too)
I am coming on nicely with toilet training and providing I am taken outside regularly I mostly do it outside. I have occasional accidents when I’m playing and forget. I’m sure I’ll get better though with help from my new family.
I have hip dysplasia although my foster mum says you wouldn’t always know it when I’m chasing around with my foster brother. The vet says I don’t need an operation but I will benefit from physiotherapy. I go to the retreat in Swansea every week where a lovely lady gives me lots of treats and tells me I’m a really good girl when I walk in the water on a treadmill. I enjoy this and she’s told me that it will help to build up my muscles. The Friends of Animals Wales charity will continue to support treatment for my hip problems with an assisted adoption. I take an omega 3 capsule every day to help as this is what the physiotherapist recommended.
I don’t have any other health problems and my foster mum says I’m a real live wire and a typical puppy.
I’m very happy with my foster family but can be a little nervous when I meet new people. If they give me a treat and talk quietly then I soon make friends. I don’t live with children but they do visit and I enjoy their cuddles as long as they are gentle. I also love to play football with a boy who comes here sometimes.
I’ve not met any cats or small furries yet so I’m not sure if I like them.
In the day I rest in a donut bed which I love. I’m also happy to spend some time in a crate when my foster mum needs to go out for a couple of hours. At night I sleep in a crate in the kitchen. I sleep all night and only get up when my foster mum wakes me.
I’m loving my short walks which the physiotherapist says is ok. I walk really well on the lead and enjoy sniffing around and following my doggie friends. I love living with another dog who is about the same size as me and am learning lots from him. I will need a doggy friend in my forever home.
