🐾 Bear – D2026-18 🐾
2 year old Collie x Cavashon

Bear is a fun-loving, affectionate young boy looking for a patient and understanding home where he can continue to grow in confidence and enjoy life.

Bear can be a little nervous when meeting new people and may bark at first, but once he realises you are a friend he quickly becomes incredibly loving. He will bring you his toys, climb onto your shoulder for cuddles and happily shower you with kisses. He adores affection – but prefers to come to you in his own time once he has checked you out.

Bear has a front limb deformity and some stiffness in his hips, but he currently shows no lameness and enjoys his walks and playtime. He also has a history of seizures caused by mycotoxin ingestion, however since treatment and gaining weight he has had no further issues.

Bear loves going for walks and is used to gentle strolls through a quiet village and across open fields with a dog he knows and trusts. Busy places with lots of traffic and unfamiliar smells can make him anxious, so he will need a calm owner willing to slowly build his confidence. A secure harness, collar and double lead are recommended when out walking while he continues to build trust and confidence.

He is a very clever young dog who learns quickly and responds brilliantly to praise and positive reinforcement. Bear already knows sit, stay, leave, no and good boy, and would really benefit from attending reward-based training classes so he can continue learning and bonding with his new family.

Bear is young and playful and absolutely loves toys. His favourite pastime is emptying the toy box and proudly bringing each toy to you. Squeaky toys and tennis balls are his favourites and he would happily play fetch all day. He can become a little over-excited around toys and is still learning to share, but he is improving every day.

Because of his excitable nature, Bear would be best suited to a home with dog-savvy children aged 10+ who can understand when playtime needs to pause so Bear can settle.

He has not been tested with cats or small furries.

Bear currently lives with other dogs and would love a confident, friendly resident dog to help guide him and give him companionship.

At home, Bear is very settled. He sleeps downstairs with the other dogs on a sofa or dog bed and is almost fully house trained, with just the occasional accident while he continues to learn.

Bear came into rescue very underweight, so he has been learning that food will always be available and he no longer needs to scavenge. He is now doing very well at mealtimes and waits patiently for treats with the other dogs.

Once Bear bonds with you he becomes an incredibly loyal, loving companion who wants to be involved in everything you do. He would thrive in an active home with people around most of the time, plenty of playtime, a secure garden, and a big toy box to keep him happy.

With his intelligence and enthusiasm, Bear may even enjoy activities such as agility once his confidence grows.
