Nora is a sweet, affectionate little girl who truly shines once she feels safe and secure with her people. She is lovely when out and about, happily meeting people on walks and in cafés. Nora is polite and well-mannered in public settings, enjoys gentle fuss from calm strangers, and is always delighted if a tasty little treat is on offer too!
Since returning to foster after two months in an adoptive home, Nora has shown a noticeable increase in anxiety around visitors entering the home. During her first foster stay she would greet familiar visitors happily, jumping up beside them on the sofa and seeking affection. However, following her return, she became extremely worried when a previously familiar visitor came into the home — barking, holding a rigid posture, and maintaining a fixed stare. Importantly, there was no attempt to bite, but Nora remained unsettled and hyper-alert for several hours afterwards, continuing to low growl from another room until the visitor had left.
Because of this, Nora will need a very calm, understanding home willing to give her time to rebuild her confidence and sense of security. She thrives on routine, predictability, and gentle handling.
In her foster home, Nora is a happy and loving companion with the adults she trusts. Every day her confidence grows a little more. She adores cuddles, leaps onto laps for affection, and gives the sweetest little Nora kisses. She loves being involved in daily life, sniffing around the garden, and enjoying familiar routines with her foster family.
Nora would not cope well in a busy or child-focused household. Young children, boisterous teenagers, or a noisy environment would make her very anxious. Any older children in the home would need to be calm, sensible, and able to fully respect Nora’s space and needs.
Nora is excellent with the resident cat, happily curling up beside him and even giving him the occasional gentle lick. She has not been tested with small furries.
Since her return to foster, Nora has shown less interest in toys and interactive play than before, though she still enjoys the company of the resident dogs and loves snuggling up beside them for naps. Outside, her playful side still appears — especially in secure fields where she races around like a little rocket!
At night, Nora sleeps peacefully on a dog mattress beside her foster parents’ bed and greets them each morning with enthusiastic kisses and tail wags. Her housetraining has temporarily regressed slightly since returning to foster, but she is improving steadily each day and sleeps through the night with no accidents.
Nora is polite around food and treats, happily waiting her turn alongside the resident dogs with no reactive behaviour. She prefers to eat separately simply because she takes her time over meals.
Nora’s ideal home would be quiet, calm, and predictable, with access to a safe and secure garden and daily walks to enjoy her sniffy adventures. She would benefit greatly from someone being home most of the time, as she forms very strong bonds with her trusted humans and loves being close to them. With patience, understanding, and lots of gentleness, little Nora will make an incredibly loving and devoted companion.
