PENNY – ADOPTED
PENNY NEEDS TO BE REHOMED WITH AT LEAST ONE RESIDENT DOG
Reference No – D2020-130
Name: Penny
Age: 5-8 years
Breed: Shih Tzu
Fostered in: South Wales
Health conditions: None known
Penny is a very friendly girl who loves people and cuddles. She is gradually learning to live as a pet in a home but needs more reassurance. She gets on fine with all dogs regardless of size but would love a little friendly and confident dog to be her best friend and help her learn to play and be happy. Penny has just started to play with toys and scamper around the garden wagging her tail, she prefers to have a little dog friend to follow to give her more confidence.
People: Penny adores being cuddled and brushed. She will happily be groomed all day long and really shows her appreciation.
Can live with children: Penny is fine with children and loves cuddles with them. We would consider older children.
Can live with cats: Not tested
Can live with other dogs: Penny loved her foster sister, a Cairn Terrier who has now been adopted and thrived in her company. Penny would love a dog her size to bond with. She lives with a collie, an OES and a 3 legged very gentle girl and is fine with all of them. She has no aggression at all and gets on well with them all. Penny has not been out on walks yet as awaiting her second vaccination but runs around the garden with the other dogs very happily.
In the home: Penny is not house trained. She will use puppy pads or go outdoors and gets praised for that, and then wees next to the puppy pad! House training is in progress. Penny prefers to sleep in a quiet corner in a dog bed. All our dog crates are open, and she does sometimes like to go in one to relax. Penny has shown no destructive behaviour at all. She is just learning to play with toys and needs positive encouragement. Penny eats well If another dog tries to steal her food, she will walk away so we feed her on her own to ensure she gets her full meal. Penny is currently on wet food only due to her bad teeth, but now they have been removed and once her stitches have healed she may be able to have harder food. She loves having treats and will come and wait with the other dogs to have her special soft treats that she takes so gently. Penny has only been left for up to an hour and is fine.
Out and about: Due to Covid 19 and not having had her 2nd vaccination Penny has not been out for walks. She will need lead training at home in the garden in her new home to give her confidence to walk on a lead.
Type of home: Penny will thrive in a home with a small, friendly, playful and confident dog that will help her gain confidence and humans who will be at home a lot to make a fuss of her and encourage her to try new and exciting activities. Penny would love an active home where she can race around the garden, learn to play, and have fun.
Penny is full vaccinated, neutered and up to date with flea and worming treatment.
Potential adopters are expected to travel to South Wales to meet her.
