Nutmeg is a 6-year old ex-breeding dog who is being fostered in Worcestershire. She is adapting slowly but steadily to being a family pet and is ready for the next stage of her journey.

People – Nutmeg is happy around adults as long as she isn’t being restrained. She can be touched and she enjoys a fuss and being brushed. She will bark when frightened but has never shown any sign of aggression.

Dogs – Nutmeg is great when meeting other dogs when she is out and about but she is not so keen to have other dogs in her home space. For this reason we will be rehoming Nutmeg as an only dog.

Cats – Not cat tested

In the home – Nutmeg can be left 2 to 3 hours on a regular basis but has been left 3 to 4 hours on occasion with no problems. Nutmeg is housetrained and well behaved in this area.

Out and about – Nutmeg now loves going out, gets very excited when she sees the harness and lead. She happily walks round town, into shops, pub and market. Her wandering on the lead is getting better and with a little more training you could have a good heal.

Type of home – A home where someone is around most of the day as she likes human company and attention. No young children because we haven’t been able to assess this. We think she would benefit from a home with more than one adult, currently she is becoming very focused on her foster mum. If she goes as an only dog with a single person they will need to be aware of the potential for Nutmeg to become very focussed on them. A nice secure garden, she loves running around the garden and then quietly sunbathing. A home where they are going to take her out and increase her experiences and build her confidence. She is learning quickly, but as an ex-puppy farm girl there are still a lot of situations which she hasn’t experienced. An experienced home would be good because Nutmeg is clever and I think she would like to be in charge and “own” her people, equally the new owner needs to have an awareness of the trauma caused by her puppy farm experience and be able to help her overcome any fears.

Nutmeg is Neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in Worcestershire
