Monty
Monty D2024-114
- Needs a resident dog for zoomy practice
- No cats
- Older dog savvy children
Monty is a 1 year old Turkish Mixed breed who loves everyone, she is a very gentle girl who loves fuss and praise. She loves her walks and saying hello to everyone she meets. She can sometimes be a bit wary meeting new people and dogs, but as long as it is gradual introductions and she is praised for good behaviour, she soon makes friends. She has been bullied by other dogs in the past so is just looking after herself. She needs to learn that she no longer needs to be afraid and someone has her back.
Veterinary history to be discussed
Monty loves to play. She can be cheeky and thinks she can get away with chewing things as she is still a pup, but she is very intelligent and if told no and given a toy as an alternative, she will chew that instead and looks very pleased with herself. She loves other dogs and loves to play with them, chasing them around the garden or playing play fight. She always listens when told it is time to calm down.
Monty does not like cats so is not to be rehomed with any.
Monty is quite big and very playful; she loves playing with toys and running around at top speed so older children who can move out of her way would be better. She is still a bit of a pup and everything is new to her so she can get excitable but listens when told to calm down.
Monty loves toys but does chew them and will chase anything you throw for her in the garden. She won’t catch it or bring it back, she will just keep running and running. She loves it if another dog plays chase with her, that is her favourite game.
Monty enjoys her walks but initially is a bit wary of where she is going. She is nervous to get in the car as she associates car rides with vets and other scary things, so is gradually being introduced to visits to nice places. Due to her being a bit nervous of new situations she is walked with a harness, collar and two leads. She has not been walked in busy places or towns enjoying quiet areas to help her gain her confidence. She responds well to praise and encouragement and her lead walk training needs to continue in her forever home. She always looks so pleased with herself when she is praised for being brave. She stays close to her human on lead and has only been off lead in a secure field where she also stayed close.
Monty sleeps downstairs with the other dogs on a comfy dog bed. She has not yet mastered getting onto a sofa. She sleeps quietly all night.
She is completely house trained and has always gone into the garden to toilet.
Monty is currently underweighted and is having a few small meals a day which she eats on her own to make sure she gets the nourishment she needs. She is happy to wait for treats with the others and takes her treat very gently taking it away to a quiet spot to enjoy.
Monty would love a fairly active home where she has access to a large garden and people around most the time who will be patient and supportive teaching her how to enjoy walks and adventures. Monty loves being in the garden most of the day, she likes to lie on the grass and watch the sky and birds. She loves being outdoors but also loves coming in to curl up by the fire with the other dogs. Monty would love to live with a loving, confident dog who will help to show her around and gain confidence. Someone she can race around the garden with.
