CALM RESIDENT DOG A MUST

NOT CAT TESTED

OLDER DOG SAVVY CHILDREN

PATIENT OWNERS AROUND MOST OF THE TIME WHO WILL GIVE MEGAN TIME TO BLOSSOM

Megan is 5-7 year old Cocker Spaniel described by her foster mum as a heart breaker. When she looks at you with her Spaniel eyes, you just melt. She likes to follow you around the house and stays close behind you wherever you go. In fact, foster mum thinks that she is quite a nosey parker and likes to see what everyone is up to. She loves a gentle fuss but is fearful of sudden movements. She feels safe on her bed where she enjoys being made a fuss of.

Megan sometimes likes to collect odd bits of paper or socks that are left lying about but be wary not to leave anything of importance at her level or they may vanish.

Megan eats well twice daily getting very excited around meal times. She loves a wander in the garden chasing birds and having a good sniff around but can be quite stubborn at times about going out and needs a bit of persuasion. She has enjoyed regular baths and grooming particularly as her skin was very dry on arrival. She is amenable to her ears being cleaned as long as a sausage treat is available.

Vet history will be discussed with potential adopters.

Megan allows visitors to cuddle her when she’s in her safe place but she doesn’t willingly greet strangers. She wags her tail profusely when her foster family appears and gets very excited. Meg shows a little jealousy and hurt if the resident dog is being patted and not her but hasn’t yet got the courage to willingly seek close contact.

Not cat or small furry tested

Megan is 75% house trained and understands the garden is for toileting but needs encouragement to go outside. She doesn’t ask to go out so it’s a case of anticipating her need and putting her out often.

She has been left with the resident dog for a few hours and on her own for short periods.

Megan sleeps upstairs on her own bed and really looks forward to bed time. She hasn’t had any toilet issues during the night and has recently learnt to climb up stairs but not down!

Lead training is ongoing. She will follow closely behind off lead but hasn’t yet mastered the pleasure of a lead led walk. She travels in the back seat of the car attached to a car harness but at the moment is lifted in and out.

Megan has come a long way in a short space of time and will need a home where her new owners will give her time and patience to continue to grow in confidence. They will need to be home the majority of time as she does suffer from separation anxiety. A resident dog is necessary to help Megan become braver and more self-assured but at the same time respectful of her own space. A passive older dog would be ideal.
