Some cats arrive in rescue and blossom quickly.
Matilda… is not one of those cats.
Affectionately known as Timid Tilly, this little lady is searching for a truly exceptional human. Someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles and lap time. Sometimes, love looks like patience… space… and a bowl of very good quality wet food placed quietly on the floor.
After nearly 4 months in foster, Tilly will allow the gentlest touch — but only at arm’s length. She spends much of her day tucked safely under beds or behind furniture. When she’s hungry, she’ll seek her fosterer out… but attempts to pick her up are met with impressive evasive manoeuvres.
What does Tilly love?

🏡 Small, quiet spaces where she feels secure
👤 A human who expects nothing in return
Given the unusual circumstances around her admission — she refused to back out from between two house extensions — it’s clear open spaces feel overwhelming for her, even in a familiar home. She lacks confidence, and while we continue gently working to build it, this may simply be who she is.
And that’s okay.
Tilly is not a project. She is not a challenge to be conquered. She is a shy soul who deserves safety and stability without pressure.
She needs:
