Health issues: As an older boy who has experienced neglect in his life Benji has come to us with a few health issues. His foster home is currently treating Benji for a skin condition which he had when he arrived, slowly this is improving. Benji has limited sight and mobility. A slight heart murmur has been detect although our vets are nit concerned about this.
Beautiful boy with gentle soul looking for a loving lap for retirement. We feel being an only dog would be far more beneficial to him, as he doesn’t really like to share his human when it comes to cuddles. He is happy to potter around with the other dogs being there, but can be snappy if they get in his face (prob due to eyesight as well)
Needs someone home a lot to look after him & for company, needs assistance to get to the garden and then toileting is ok (some accidents due to not being able to get out quickly enough). Would suit older person who does not need a walking buddy, but he loves being out & has enjoyed every time in his buggy so this would be perfect for him
People: He is a beautiful gentleman who loves attention & gentle handling. I groomed him with no issues when he was very sore… Would need a very gentle, understanding hand & soft brushing whilst skin recovers.
Can live with children: Older children would be considered.
Can live with cats: Benji can not live with cats.
Can live with other dogs: Benji would prefer a home without other dogs so he would not have to share his humans.
In the home: Benji is housetrained providing he has easy access to the garden or is taken outside. Due to his mobility issues Benji is unable to climb stars. He sleeps perfectly in crate in kitchen all night and eats in crate. He does not really play but sometimes will try to chew on an antler.
Out and about: Benji travels well in car and loves being in buggy on walks. He does not walk well himself due to lack of strength/muscle & failing eyesight
Type of home: Benji is looking for a home who someone is home most of the time. All he wants out of live is to have a companion on sofa or a comfy bed. Benji needs plenty of love, cuddles, some reassurance, and guidance in his new home to find things. Its very important that Benji is able to sleep in a crate at night, this is all he really demands out of life….the safety and security of his crate.
Benji is fully vaccinated, neutered and up to date with flea and worming treatment.
Potential adopters would be expected to travel to South Wales to meet him.
