Name: Ivy

Age: 7 years old

Breed: Shih Tzu

Can I live with Children: Older

Can I live with cats: Not tested

Can I live with other dogs: Yes, a must

Fostered In: South Glamorgan

Seven-year old Ivy is an ex-breeding Shih Tzu who is being fostered in South Wales.

People – Ivy can be nervous at first when meeting new people but responds well to a gentle approach. She is happy to be groomed and will sit patiently to have her face and eyes washed. Ivy can become rather fearful in new situations.

Dogs – Ivy does require the company of another dog to give her confidence and support and to learn from. She is at present in a foster home with a very active 4-year old dachshund cross whom she loves to bits. She is very comfortable around other dogs and is totally unfazed by visiting dogs

Cats – Not tested

In the home – House training is ongoing but she is confident using puppy pads in one particular area. Ivy sleeps downstairs in the kitchen where she has complete freedom and choice of beds. She gets very excited to see people and her doggy friend in the mornings. Ivy is not at all destructive and although she doesn’t play with toys, has a collection of cuddly animals that she likes to carry around. She can be left for up to 4/5 hours without any problems but given treats and chews as compensation. She has a dog biscuit for breakfast which she loves, treats throughout the day and a meal in the evening. She can become a bit anxious at mealtimes as she seems to fear that it will be taken away from her.

Out and about – Ivy walks nicely on the lead but is still learning to enjoy being out and about. She travels with a safety harness in the back seat but finds it stressful. Although she is very compliant at the vets, she is very fearful. With more positive experiences with car travel, Ivy will soon see this as a more positive experience.

Type of home – Ivy would benefit from a home with at least one other dog for company and as a role model. She has benefited from a number of people visiting and making her feel more confident with human company but in the long term would be more suited to a quieter environment and someone who’s around most of the day.

Ivy is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.

Slider

Name: Holly

Age: 5 years old

Breed: Shih Tzu

Can I live with Children: 10 and above

Can I live with cats: Yes

Can I live with other dogs: would prefer to be an only dog

Fostered In: Rhondda, South Wales

Holly is a 5-year old ex-breeding Shih Tzu girl who is being fostered in Rhondda, South Wales. Holly loves her food and is starting to show interest in play. She loves to steal socks and fluffy slippers. Holly is in good health but does have a sunken eye that she cannot see out of due to a birth defect; she may need an operation in the future.

People – Holly is good with strangers and visitors to the home and has gained her confidence with meeting people. Holly has been fine around children and she has shown no aggression towards children or adults. Holly would be better in a home with children over the age of 10 as she would like to be the one that initiates interaction rather than small children who may not respect her boundaries.

Dogs – As an ex-breeding girl we usually only rehome with another dog, but Holly is happy on her own and unless a laid back, chilled out dog would prefer to be an only dog

Cats – Holly lives with a cat and tries to play with him. Holly has not met any other small animals.

In the home – Holly is getting used to living in a home. Her house training is ongoing. Adopters will have to be patient with her and take her out for toilet breaks regularly until she adjusts to her new routine. Holly is not crate trained and does not like being confined. She sleeps on foster mum’s bed during the night. She can be food aggressive around other dogs so will need to be fed on her own. Holly can be left for a few hours with no issues.

Out and about – Holly has only been out and about in a dog buggy as she has not yet completed the course of vaccinations. Holly is great in the car and will sleep. She is also well behaved when at the vets.

Type of home – Holly would be fine in a house with children over 10 that know to give a dog space when needed. Holly likes to have her family close and gets upset if they go upstairs and close the gate, which is why her adopters will have to be at home for most of the day.

Holly is neutered, chipped, up to date with her flea and worming treatment and has just started her vaccinations. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in South Wales.

In the home – Jaffa has improved his toileting tremendously and will only have an occasion wee in the house. He sleeps on the bed with his foster home and another dog. Evie is one of the cwtchiest girls you’ll ever meet. She wants nothing more than to snuggle up on your lap and purr. She is chatty in the day, but is quiet at night and will happily sleep beside (or on top of you) until you’re ready to get up (and never wakes you up herself). The cat team are very excited to present a very special man to you all. Everyone say a gentle hello to our Abominable Snowman or SNOWY for short. Snowy is just perfection rolled up into one big lump of love. He came to us due to a change in family circumstances, his previous owner loved him so much and has made him into the gentle giant that he is. Snowy is 10 years old and is looking for a nice quiet home. He could live with another cat or dog and has been amazing with visiting children who can be trusted to quietly brush him. This young man has expensive taste and will only eat from his china bowls which will travel with him. He also has his own personal grooming kit and this is for a good reason as he loves to be brushed and this will need to continue on a daily basis to keep this boy looking in tip top condition. Snowy for all this love and attention will give you nose kisses to your hearts delight. He also loves to look out of the window and can go out after a period of adjustment. He’s not a boy who likes to sit on your lap (which is lucky as he’s a right lump) but he likes to be close. He is happy to be at home on his own for short periods. His foster mum says that he is just so easy to look after as he is so laid back he hasn’t got a nasty bone in his body.

Our gorgeous young man Parker is now looking for his forever home. He was found abandoned in the car park hungry and afraid. The vets think he is around 4 to 5 years old. He is a very gentle boy and loves human attention and is a cuddle monster. He is great with other cats and dogs, he is great with young children being described by his foster mum as very gentle. He is ok if his new owners go out and work and will make a great big fuss when they get home. He will adapt well to a new home he is that easy going. His foster mums final words are that “ despite Parker having lived rough for a long time he is very clean in the house. He has a lovely fat squishy face with short stubby legs who absolutely loves cuddles”.

REHOMED Lucy – 2 and a half year old Cavalier

Name: Lucy

Age: 2 and a half years

Breed: Cavalier King Charles

Can I live with Children: 7 years plus

Can I live with cats: Unknown

Can I live with other dogs: Yes, a must

Fostered In: Midlands

Lucy is a 2 and a half year old Cavalier who is being fostered in the Midlands. She is a friendly, loving girl who loves attention and fuss. She knows her name but hasn’t been taught sit, down etc but is a quick learner. She is a little gem who will be a loving and loyal companion to whoever adopts her.

People – Lucy does bark at people and dogs but only because she wants to meet them and get fuss.

Dogs – Apart from initially barking at dogs when out she is happily living here with three other dogs. She would definitely benefit from having another dog to play with

Cats – Not tested

In the home – Lucy is mainly housetrained with only an occasional accident. She sleeps on her fosterer’s bed with three other dogs. She walks in and out of an open crate downstairs. She will chase and bring back a ball when out but at home she prefers an antler chew to toys. She is not food aggressive but will try to get the others food if given half the chance. When left, she will initially cry and bark but this only last for a few minutes. She has been left with the others for up to three hours without any problems

Out and about – Lucy is very happy to get in the car and travels extremely well, she will whine for the first few minutes and then lies down and goes to sleep. I haven’t taken her to the vet yet but she has been to the groomers and behaved very well having her nails clipped.

Type of home – Lucy would benefit from another dog in her new home. She does like her walks but doesn’t need long walks. She is very good and could be left for several hours as long as she had another dog for company.  Children 7+ would be fine, the only reason being that she can get excited and could knock smaller children down

Lucy is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet her in her foster home in the Midlands

Name: Tonto

Age:  18 months old

Breed: Cavalier King Charles

Can I live with Children: Yes

Can I live with cats: Yes

Can I live with other dogs: Yes

Fostered In: Worcester

Tonto is an 18-month old Cavalier who is being fostered in Worcester. He is very confident and outgoing. Loves his food, walks and playing in house with balls or soft toys. Lives life to the full and loves it. A real pleasure to foster. He has real character and keeps his fosterer on her toes!

People – Absolutely adores people of all kinds. Will approach them for a fuss and will accept treats. Brilliant with children who are his favourites. He would be fine in family situation

Dogs – Loves all sorts of dogs. Has been put in his place by resident dog and dogs he’s met on walks with no retaliation.

Cats – Very interested in the cat in his foster home, who has hissed at him. Unfazed and still interacting with cat.

In the home – House-training is ongoing. He’s now using puppy pads and is also going outside so he’s starting to make the connection. Sleeps in dog bed on floor by his  fosterer’s bed. He hasn’t been tested in a crate. He does like to chew and will run off with anything that’s not nailed down! He loves to play with soft toys and balls but he will chew so needs to be supervised. Magazines, books and puppy pads will be shaken to death and shredded! He loves his food but not over fond of biscuit dog treats much preferring meats and sausages. Not food or toy aggressive at all. Have left him with resident dog for up to 3.5 hours and was fine.

Out and about – He gets very excited when out on his lead so will leap about a bit but can walk sedately when encouraged to. Took him out in car yesterday and put him in boot with resident dog and he was calm and relaxed about it. Settled down immediately. Not taken him to vet yet but don’t envisage any problems.

Type of home – Tonto is a good all rounder. He could settle in a home with or without another dog but does need active owners. He would probably do best in home where children can take an active part as he’s still only a baby in his head and loves children.

Tonto is neutered, chipped, vaccinated and up to date with his flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in Worcester.
